Unhappy Fails to resume Incomplete DL, starts over, PLEASE HELP!

Help! I'm 109 Mb into a 129 Mb download over a MODEM! The program froze, which isn't always a problem, but this time when I start it up it resumes the download, but back at zero. It starts a new file, ignoring the existing chunk.

Is there a way to edit the download.dat file or ANYthing I can do to finish this sucker off. Starting over just won't cut it.

I'm really deperate here. PLEASE help if you can.

Cool

Hello!

Im sorry to inform you that your chanses to get that file to start downloading from where it left off is slim to nothing.

The reason is because LW crashed and my experience is that almost never files will resume after a complete crash.Only under the following conditions files are supposed to continue downloading from where it left off:

-You lost the connection to the host/hosts you where downloading from and then you receives the Requery sent message. If you now click the kill download button it will dissapear from the list but it still remains in the incomplete folder. Then you perform a new search to once again find the exact same file(A file with the exact same name and file size). If you then are able to find such a file and start to download it then LW will start from where it left off before.

-The same apply if you get a Busy signal.

-You downloads a file and then shut down LW by misstake or for some other reason. The next time you start it up LW will make a new connection to the same host and if it is still online and are connectable then LW will finish the download from where it left off. Also if you follow the procedure described above the same facts apply to this situation.

Default Incomplete download won't resume

Thanks. My experiences are consistent with yours - generally LW is able to resume even after being quit and coming back hours later. Of course you have to search again because the original host will likely be gone, but as soon as it finds the file somewhere else, away it goes.

Anybody have any tips or tricks to get an incomplete download started again? Not just the usual hiccups.

Talking Upgrade to latest version cured incomplete download

Upgraded to latest version (2.5.3?) last night and now the download that previously seemed dead, and was trying to start back at zero, is resuming! Seems generally faster, too.
