Could not move to library I barely got lime wire and when i went to download my first song and hit download it went to 100 percent and it said could not move to library. How can i fix this. This happens to all my songs |
This is a periodic bug. Usually closing and restarting Limewire will get things back to normal. It may also apparently happen to individual downloads when the file name contains characters that Limewire can't cope with such as a backslash. |
no library move could not I am also experiencing this problem. I've tried recreating the path that the file I'm trying to download reflects in it's name but it still does not work. Is there any way to download those files with LimeWire? |
If you find another version of the same file named without illegal characters, you'll be able to download it. Otherwise no. |
I don't get a message that says "could not move to library" but have the same problem. I just installed Limewire (for MacOS X), got about 5 songs, and now a download will complete but not be stored in my library. The file is not on the hard drive, there are no weird characters, and quitting/restarting Limewire doesn't help. There's no point to downloading files I can't do anything with, so somebody please tell me how to fix this! |

Waste of $9.50 Hope I helped feed some starving programmers though. *chuckles* |

That way I could rename any files on my Mac & perhaps help alleviate this problem for my uploaders. |
Not gotten in a while.... Quote:
Haven't seen it yet in 2.6.1 Maybe resolved? |
Illegal characters... Under Windows, the following characters are not allowed in file names: \ / : * ? " < > | If none of these characters is visible in the file name then there may be non-visible illegal characters (perhaps - I'm not convinced about this one yet). Other potential problems are that you have run out of disk space, that you have too many files in a single folder (should only be a problem on older operating systems or potentially the root directory of a disk), that you have hit a bug (you'll probably get a lot of 'could not move to library' in one batch), that you do not have all the permissions you need to access the incomplete or save folder, that some other program is accessing the file (virus checker, FastFind, a media player)... or something else. illegal characters so far, I've only encountered this problem with files that have a / in the file name. (I'm using a Mac). Thanks for the Windows list. Maybe by working together, we can whip this problem. |
