Special Characters Many OSes reject special characters in filenames. In Mac, if you try to put special characters in filenames it will either warn you or change the special character to "-". Perhaps Limewire programmers should evaluate the filename before Limewire attempts to download the file and automatically replace the special characters with "-" ... |

Same old story Been offline since August and see that little has changed with this 'cannot move to library' problem. I still think the problem lies elsewhere than simply with illegal characters or too lengthy filenames. I've just started up version 2.3.4 and it's working OK; much later versions don't. btw, I've moved to Rome and would appreciate recommended ISPs here. |

problem without special characters I gust tried to download a file with the name of Sonic Foundry Sound Forge 6.0 with keymaker.zip this filename had none of the special characters listed previously. When I went to the incomplete directory and double clicked on the file and tried to launch it WinZIP complained that the archive was corrupt. So, is the archive corrupt because Limewire could not move it, or is the reason the Limewire could not move it because it was corrupt? Thanks, Jesse Tutterrow |

That is a question for the programmers. I would assume that LimeWire couldn't move it b/c the file is corrupt. It seems that one of the latest inhancements to the program is file verification.. After adding all the illegal characters to my filter exceptions I am still encountering files that cannot be moved to the library. I don't believe that illegal characters are the problem after all. I'm thinking it probably has to do with LimeWire's file verification routines. Back to square one. I'm going to try to use an earlier version of LimeWire to see if this is true. |
