why so many corrupting files?

I just installed and tried to download about 6 songs. I encountered about 6 corrupting files. One song I downloaded from a group of 80+ source and it was corrupted. Does that mean all 80+ ppl are having corrupted files or there's a problem on my side and I'm the one corrupting file?

No, you're not corrupting the file! But you could be sharing corrupted files you've downloaded!. Corruption causes could be many.... faulty 'ripping' (converting audio to digital formats).... glitches in the net traffic.... Problem is compounded as more and more people download these damaged files! I listen to everything I download, but not everyone does.... at least not always at the moment of download completion. Therefore others can download that damaged file. If it's faulty, then several more bad bad copies of this file exist after they've downloaded; this continues when more people download from them.... and so on....

I'd suggest you note the size and full name of a file. Listen to the file after download, if you determine it is bad, find another version of the file with different attributes and download again.
Good luck!

Much has been discussed on this topic.... try a search of the forum for more info.

Rutro makes a good point, we need to check our downloads.

I have encountered a lot more corrupt files lately. I have quit sharing my downloads until I have checked them. Once I have verified they are O.K. I move them to a shared directory.

every time i open limewire today, it runs me through the setup.
i can't listen to songs or watch vidoes as i download like usual, not responding to double click.
