It also does the same on another computer connected to a seperate cable internet access, modem, router, etc.. but same ISP. It has a dynamic IP while my main system (this one) has its own static IP and commercial cable connected to it.

My website visitors are able to download from my website (http downloads) and my ftp. It may be that the ISP is blocking gnutella traffic, who knows, will call them tomorrow.
I test a connection to your FTP server and was able to download a text file. Does your older version of limewire work?

In frustration, I brought Limewire down, but brought it back up since people are trying to help.

Limewire (4.07) worked fine 3 weeks ago. Now, no version will upload. No changes have been made from my end except the installation of 4.08 and then the beta.

BTW, re-installed winmx and it worked great. Just uninstalled it though.

I had a quick question regarding WINMX userbase size. I was thinking about hosting content on WINMX but I would like to know approximately how many people use that network?

As far as I know, it uses the same network and last time I checked, it's userbase was over 3mil. but not really sure.

WinMX is at 1 - 2 millions simultaneous users. A lot are from Asia where WinMX is really popular. I don't have hard written stats though.

I have run Limewire for several hours now and find that those whose IP address is very similare to mine can download from me. At least those whose first two (xxx.xxx.nnn.nnn) are the same. My Isp uses 68.97.xxx.xxx for their dynamic and 24.248.xxx.xxx for their static. Only these people are downloading from me.

Any ideas?

Although I don't know for a fact but it is not unreasonable to assume that perhaps they are using some type of device which limits P2P traffic to other users on the network i.e. sandboxing the traffic. This would make sense as most ISPs pay a lot of money for traffic that moves of of the network. There are a couple things you could do to validate / invalidate this assumption.

#1) Check your connections to see if they are limited to people who are in the subnets used by your ISP.

#2) When you download something are you limited to dowloading from people in those same subnets?

Finally, perhaps things are working for you again.

#1) No
#2) No

Connections aren't limited and I can download from anyone, unless they too are having the same problem and don't know it.
