Default How to download new files to share with others

Hi! I have a CD of my Dad's that I would like to download on Limewire to share with others. Can you give me any help in doing that? I have Windows XP with a cable connection and a router. I am VERY new to this. Thanks so much for your time. RaeRae

hmm...i notice you didnt at all read my above post...it said please do NOT hijack this thread, but in answer to your problem it is not downloading you need to do....it is uploading (just a little fact) but anyway you need to save it onto your computer (into a seperate folder would be useful) and then go into options>sharing and click the add button and select your file or folder that you wish to share..you can view the folders whichyou are already sharing by going onto the library tab (not in options)

just a little note, people will not be able to download your file to their pc unless you are online...this is because you dont upload (or download as you put it) onto limewire, this would take one hell of a big file server, you simply add your file into the search engine of limewire and when you are online people will find it and upload direct from your pc (i believe this is right)

but like i said, DONT HIJACK THREADS! this goes to anyone else as well

First of all I want to thank you for your quick reply to my problem. It was a great help. Second I didn't know what I did was wrong or called highjacking I guess because I didn't take the time to read as I should have. I apologize for that. I realized after I posted my problem onto a thread that already existed that maybe no one would see it so then I finally found the page where I could make a new one and did that. Again I'm sorry for highjacking...I will know better next time. Again thanks for all your help and for teaching me about highjacking. RaeRae

Hello:
My uploads are faster than my downloads. I have tried everything on this forum that is suggested to spead up my downloads with no success. My tested download spead is 4931 klbs and my upload is 479. I maxed the speed bar on each. Was I correct in doing this? I also tweaked filters keywords...no / or exe or sponsored files, in the host filter I put in 192.128.*.* and 10.*.*.* uploads are 1 and slots are 11. Have I done something wrong? Is there live help anywhere that can walk me through this? I have spent alot of time trying to tweak limeware. I appreciate any comments. Thanks

Smile Download/Upload problems

I see a lot of mention of "forcing" an IP on to the system, could someone please tell me what this means and how to do it. I am fairly new and would like to follow all the advice given, particularly by 'leeware'
Help would be appreciated
Uncle Dick

Forcing IP is port forwarding some modems/routers require port forwarding in order for you to be able to connect. Let us know what the brand name and model number of your modem/router is and we will help you out if we can.

Limewire Downloading Problem Slow

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My ISP is Xplornet 512kbps download speed and 128kbps upload speed. My modem for the Xplornet Internet is a satellite modem called SurfBeam. That modem plugs into my router D-Link DI-604. Now when i start up limewire it connects and when it's done connecting it's either in the green end or blue the connect and the globe has no brick on it. When i download a file it takes awhile to connect to person and finaly when it connects to the person it downloads at 1kbps or 0kbps. I'm also getting this file from someone on a Cable/DSL or T1 internet connection. So i should be atleast downloading at 50kbps or 64kbps. I don't know what the problem. I know my ISP doesn't block limewire. So someone please help me!!!!!!!!! Thanks

Smile Maximising upload/download success

Many thanks for replying Grandpa. Sorry for the delay but as I am in the Far East it was the middle of the night when your reply arrived.
My modem/router is a DareGlobal db 108 using 100mb connection speed. I have not been satisfied with the speed of downloads, as others have said very often 1 or 2 kbs when Im sure it should be better.
If you can assist I would be grateful.
Thanks

Unfortunately the search I did on your modem/router had very little results I could understand. Not English the link below is one of the searches I did and I think there is instructions in the third link for port forwarding your Dare Global db 108.
