Thank you for the quick response foolofthehill, you've confirmed what I kinda thought with some clarification, apparently my cable connection can't fool LW into thinking its a T3. Anyone that would like to comment further would be greatly appreciated tho... |

I just played with my 'speed' under 'Tools/options/speed' and it allowed me more than 10 hosts if I chose 'T3' or oddly enough 'dial up' (instead of 'cable/DSL') but seemed to throttle the bandwidth, download speed incresased for all d/ls briefly, then went down....hmmm.... Anybody have any ideas on this? Again, I'm sure this has been discussed before, and I apoligize, this forum is just so overwhelming in it's scale and # of posts to search |

Ok...I changed connection speeds around and got 14 hosts for all my d/ls by manually changing my clamied connection speed to T3, but by overall download speed decreased across all downloads in progress...but when I changed back to 'cable/dsl' my speed went back up to as much or greater than before and I retained the 14 hosts per d/l... |

Maxing up limewire 360 programs "Good day to you, Sir...." 1.) My IP address is: 68.18.115.216 (I have Bellsouth security w/firewall protection). Computer: Dell Optipex GX260 w/500megs internal Ram. I Setup a home net work through Bellsouth (my Service provider). Speed: 100Mbps DSL Q. I did (setup my options) as you stated in your post with one exception, how (or) do I need to force my IP address in Limewire? And, 360 Shares? I'm some-what a new user, however never was a member of any posts. My question is..."I can't seem to download alot of the songs!" Nor do I see many uploads. I've got 746 songs that I share in (named folders) and can't see them shared, according to the upload display. My downloading of songs is equally bad, too! I've got over 200 surches going, but they aren't downloading. So, how do I force my IP address, or do I need to? O is their some other way as to my being able to download...faster? Some other settings I need to do? Computer settings? Option settings...what? I sure would like some help! Thank You, Michael Semar (msemor@bellsouth.net) "Marry Christmas and Happy New Year!" Q. How do I get others to respond (reply) back to me? What "group" or do I have to join? Look, I'm new...dumb, and alittle afraid as to what I download on to my computer. Because of viruses and the such! I need help...! So, I'm asking nicely, okay? Last edited by 6X77B6; December 18th, 2006 at 05:54 PM. |

I have a problem launching downloaded video files Hello! Like it says, I have a problem with launching downloaded video files. Now, I'm really sorry because I'm sure this is answered somewhere in these threads, but after all of my reading and sifting, I've only come across solutions for people with different makes of modem/router, which doesn't help me. I'm a newbie, so my technical prowess is really really limited. Right, I can download and play audio files. But video files all appear to be the same size (6343 KB) they download suspiciously quickly, and then my media player says it can't play these files. I don't know if I'm right in thinking its the fault of my modem/router with it's own firewall. If it is, how do I fix it? If it isn't how do I find out what it is? I'm using windows xp home edition, 2002 version; Broadband connection 18 Mbps from home; Buffalo WBMR-G54-1 modem router; security from F-Secure. Please help! Thank You! |

Probably not your router or connection. If you can download audio files then you can also d/load videos. Also legitamite movie files are 600 to 800MB/s in size. Anything as small as your trying to d/load is probably porn or spam. For videos I stick with mpg/mpeg or avi. The others tend to be porn or spam. One thing you can do is check the files with Bitzi Web Lookup before attempting to download them. If noone has rated the file there's a pretty good chance that it's a fake. Then preview the file when it gets to about 15% completed. That way you don't waste your time downloading a dud/empty/renamed porn file. Try using a different media player. VLC media player has the codecs built in and can play most any file. More info on codecs and players in this thread: CODECs list for Movies/Alternate players / Video help forums/ video-mp3 fixers. There's also a lot of fake files on the network. You can read more about fake files here: Recognising Fake files. Then see this thread has good tips to help improve the success of your file searching. How to find music. Also applies to videos.

ok i got a question...i downloaded a few exe. program files...when i tried to open then it said "cannot open files due to security reasons" is this because of my computer or because of LM? i really want to figure this out so could anyone explain this to me?? |

LW won't open it. You have to open the file outside of LW. Easiest way to do that is to go to the LW Library, click on the file you want, then click the explore button. The folder will open up and you can run it from there. Be sure to scan it before you open it.
