Work around? If you open your Quicktime Player and from within that application then open your mp3 file, does it load? If you quit out of Quicktime Player and then double click the mp3 file, does Quicktime Player automatically restart and play your file? I'm not sure this is the answer your looking for, but it might be a workaround in the interim. |

Same Quicktime Question I have the same question about setting Quicktime as the default for saving files.... Can anyone tell me how to do this?? I have been opening Quicktime and then importing and resaving as self-contained files. It's a long process and would much rather have Quicktime as my default save mode, but don't know how to set it up that way.... HELP!!! Paul |

TO: smurfer-- Yeah, I'm running LW on a Mac and can't find the preferences window of which you speak. I did find something called 'options' but didn't find a checkbox to set LW as my default-- any other thoughts? maybe I'm just missing something? Thanks for the help--- lemme know if you figure anything out-- Paul |

Does not save as a QuickTime file... I read the above thread and, as per the directions, I used the "Enable Quicktime Exchange" option. Still, when I download an mp3, it does not save it as a QuickTime file, or any type of audio app file for that matter. Is there an option in LimeWire to set the default application for specific file types?? Thanks for the help in advance!! |

There isn't an option in LimeWire to set default types. For the QuickTime exchange to work if it wasn't already checked in the control panel you do need to restart for it to be enabled. Also, for a generic file to be associated as a QuickTime MP3 it needs .mp3 at the end of the filename. |
