Surprise! unrequested file downloaded

I'm new to Limewire and file sharing...

Last night I requested downloads for several files... took most of the night to accomplish.. when I checked it this morning, I noticed that in addition to my requested files, I had received an .mpg that I had NOT requested. I know I didn't request it because of it's title, which was audaciously (and hysterically) pornographic, though its contents were not. The problem is, I have no idea where this came from. Is it "normal" to ever receive files you don't request... like a joke file attached to something else? Or is it evidence of someone "getting into my system uninvited" (and all the "hacking" paranoia that would imply).

Please advise.

Thanks...

That can happen while LimeWire is swarming. A file is downloaded, the download pauses and then the download is continued from a host that named the file differently. - All that changed is the filename, the file was requested by you.

If a download goes into "requery sent" it searches more broadly than the exact query you entered. Sometimes LimeWire will download a file that matches part of your query but is not related to what you actually wanted.

Well, that's gotta be a pretty broad search... I've been getting all sorts of pron .mpg's while trying to download Star Tr*% episodes... and this has only been happening since 2.7.9! (as well as many other problems, like the "cannot move to library" fiasco)

LimeWire searches for the name of the file you are downloading when requerying or for its hash. It's very unlikely it will download anything it you did not request, since most clients hash their files and the probability of two different files having the same hash is something like 1 over 2^160.
