Surprise! unrequested file downloaded I'm new to Limewire and file sharing... Last night I requested downloads for several files... took most of the night to accomplish.. when I checked it this morning, I noticed that in addition to my requested files, I had received an .mpg that I had NOT requested. I know I didn't request it because of it's title, which was audaciously (and hysterically) pornographic, though its contents were not. The problem is, I have no idea where this came from. Is it "normal" to ever receive files you don't request... like a joke file attached to something else? Or is it evidence of someone "getting into my system uninvited" (and all the "hacking" paranoia that would imply). Please advise. Thanks... |
That can happen while LimeWire is swarming. A file is downloaded, the download pauses and then the download is continued from a host that named the file differently. - All that changed is the filename, the file was requested by you. |
If a download goes into "requery sent" it searches more broadly than the exact query you entered. Sometimes LimeWire will download a file that matches part of your query but is not related to what you actually wanted. |
Well, that's gotta be a pretty broad search... I've been getting all sorts of pron .mpg's while trying to download Star Tr*% episodes... and this has only been happening since 2.7.9! (as well as many other problems, like the "cannot move to library" fiasco) |
