![]() The moderator tells us:"There is no solution for this problem, and you will experience this with any filesharing app you use"... I beg to differ. Macster never gave me a mesage like that... Aimster never gave me a message like that and neither gave me heartache like that. Asking someone to leave their computer running 24/7 in order to download small (or large) files is ridiculous. I have found out that if a 'requery' message comes up it is sometimes helpful to close Limewire and then re-open. On re-open I will get another 1% or 3% to download before 'requery' shows up again. I have plodded along downloading a program file 2 or 3% at a time until it finally completes. Now... how dumb is that?? If songs or files aren't available, why not just not make them invisible? If we don't see 'em we won't %&$#@@%^ or lives away downloading at the ridiculous rate being a Limewire subscriber dictates. |

![]() I am equally pissed at this. I even bought the pro form thinking it would help. I get about 2 or 3 downloads from a "virgin" computer before everything stacks up as requery sent. It has happened enuf times now I know it must have something more to do with a "fresh" face instead of some connectiion issue. I have killed my current connections and reloaded 4 of them: still no download. This program needs a warning""Only 2 downloads per computer booting". |

![]() Well, I guess this answers my question. I just downloaded LimeWire a week ago. The first night I was able to download about 10 files....Since then I have not been able to download one. The furthest I have gotten is 18% to completion before I get the: "Requery sent, waiting 299....298....297"......down to 0 then to "299....298....297" and so on. I am extremely disappointed in this product...I was going to pay for the "Pro" version but after hearing what you all have said I think I will pass and delete LimeWire's product from my computer. Unless there is someone out there who can tell me how to fix it. I have two friends that have it and we all have the same settings and they are downloading constantly with no problems. Go figure. ![]() re: ...I was going to pay for the "Pro" version but after hearing what you all have said I think I will pass and delete LimeWire's product from my computer. I live in a city that has a perenially losing hockey franchise. We are forever being exorted to "Support Our Team" in spite of their woeful performance record. We are being guilted into supporting an obviously losing cause. What all this has to do with LimeWire should be all too painfully obvious. We are being asked to "Support The LimeWire Team" in spite of its' woeful performance record, by purchasing LimeWire Pro. It's just not going to happen. The best way to get cutomers to buy into any proposition is pretty basic.... put out a winning product; then finances will take care of themselves. People will line up to buy in and everyone will want back on the bandwagon. Until LimeWire approaches our concerns from this perspective they can expect to see ever more sparce crowds. |

![]() The FAQ says this which probably explains the the problems many of us are having. http://www.limewire.com/index.jsp/faqs#fir1 The Firewall/Router issue about if two peers have the firewall/routers they can download from each other. My guess is that there are many of us out there using a filrewall/router with our broadband/dsl connections. It's just a good idea. <question> My QUESTION is: Why can the people that contribute to the LimeWire code figure out how to deal with this issue? </question> Other peer to peer software can. I bought the pro version for my Linux desktop and XP Laptop to support a good cause, opensource, multiplatform, and Java (a nice java app imho) . I fear LimeWire is going to fall to the way side. |

![]() Yes, I think we are having so many problems with downloads because of so many of us have firewalls. However, knowing what I do about the need for a firewall particularly on a cable connection I gotta say I would toss every mp3 I own before I would disable the firewall. Free music is a good thing, the integrity of my brand new computer is a far better thing. LimeWire needs to address this issue ASAP. catgirl |

![]() re: Yes, I think we are having so many problems with downloads because of so many of us have firewalls.... As true as the above may be, methinks the issue goes deeper. I, for one, have no firewall protection, and many, if not most, of the issues driving us all to distraction befall me as well. The bottom line of this whole matter is... you just know there has to be a better way. A quick scan of posts to this forum tells the story: "Could not move to Library" "Lots of Hits/No Downloads" "Very unhappy with Limewire" "Search_HELP??!!" "Annoying requery" "Download Speed" blah, blah, blah, ad nauseum These issues are so pervasive that it begs the question, "How does this thing ever work?" Somewhere, amongst these posts, a programmer and Sr Member responded to our frustration by saying, "That's just the way things are." I wonder how long FORD would stay in business if they reponded to problematic issues with that level of concern? TOYOTA would put 'em outta business by responding with solutions instead of indifference. And that is just the way things are. |

![]() I, too, am new to downloading music. I have also found that quitting and re-opening limewire provides the best chance for cutting down the "requery" messages. I have mac os 10.2 and limewire was the "suggested" software to use. Do I have other choices? I'm open to suggestions. |

![]() The other choices for Mac OSX I've tried are Acquisition, Drumbeat, and Myster, but all have their problems too. I'm just waiting while the developers try to work around all these problems. check out http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=18997 for updates |
