**"Could not move to library" problem Hi, I`m running LimeWire on a Mac. With some files I have the problem, that after a while downloading the download stops and I see the error: "Could not move to library". This always happens to the same file again. Is there a solution for that problem? Thank You Cusha |

Not Limewire"s problem I sent an email to support. They still think this is a user problem and not a problem with Limewire. Email follows with my response: Hi Bill, This is usually the result of either downloading a file with an incredibly large name or rogue characters in the name, trying to download to a full disk, or downloading to a directory to which you don't have administrator rights. Please try the following: Press Kill Download Select the Incomplete folder, in the Library, and select Resume. Thanks, Zenzele My Response: Dear Zenzele, Don't get me wrong because I'm a loyal Limewire user and have been over many years and I know a form response when I see it. This is not a problem with my PC or the file....it is Limewire. I switched to BearShare and was able to download the very same files on the very same PC. I don't like BearShare's interface and prefer Limewire but BearShare is working. You can't simply blow this off as a user problem. Please fix it so I can use Limewire. Bill |

Not reading support email I just got a reply from my reply: This is usually the result of either downloading a file with an incredibly large name or rogue characters in the name, trying to download to a full disk, or downloading to a directory to which you don't have administrator rights. Please try the following: Press Kill Download Select the Incomplete folder, in the Library, and select Resume. Thanks, Zenzele Folks! They are not reading the support emails. They see "can not move to library" and send the standard response even to replies. They don't say they are looking into it or the fix is coming in the next version. I only hear that from the moderators. Maybe they are too busy counting the money from Pro sales but they can count me out for now. I really liked Limewire. |

Acquired Acquisition Had the same problem on my Mac...wasted hours and hours on inexplicably unusable downloads. I did not go PRO. Would have if the thing had worked. Got a copy of Acquisition for Mac OSX. Good interface...gnutella network, ultrapeer, etc. Worked perfectly. Very Mac-like, for those of you who use Macs. Paid the $15 shareware fee for nag-free file sharing. Files that wouldn't work via Limewire...no problem with Acquisition. Go to Versiontracker and do a search...it's there. (Also tried Neo and Myster...both crashed repeatedly. Must be my computer...oh, Acquisition works, so maybe it's the software!) |

Acquisition is a fine program, but it's Limewire under the hood. I use and support both, because the Acq is dependent on Limewire, and I bet Limewire will look closely at Acq's interface. I honestly can't say one loads files up or down better than the other in the long run, but can say Acq is much better on the eyes and mouse. Never got around to Neo, but Drumbeat was quite the experience. I'm impressed that Acq worked perfectly for you! |

Still waiting I've been using the free version of BearShare since the failure of Limewire. The interface is very different but it works without fail and I need a program that will let me go to bed and not have to watch it for that failure. Limewire worked great for many years and I've been using the pro version ever since it started. I don't understand why they are not working around the clock to fix it. In a few more weeks I'll feel at home with BearShare and will be using the pro version even though it cost more because it works. Limewire is just throwing the business away. |
