Download Very Sloooooooooow

I have just installed Limewire 2.9.8 and I am having trouble with downloads. When I am able to connect the speed is only 1 to 2 K. Most of the time I get a message which says "Could Not Download, Awaiting Source." Before I installed 2.9.8 I did not have this problem.

Yup, before 2.9.x LimeWire used to display "Requery sent, waiting for results" instead of "Could not download, awaiting more sources".

If you get that message search for the file you are trying to download again, - if you are lucky you might find another source, - if you aren't wait a couple of hours.

I guess I did not explain this clearly. I continuously get this message not just occasionally.

Yes, I understood you. But there's nothing you can do about it except for trying to find other locations and try downloading from them.

Slow?

Hi

The issue is not the slowness of the download but its reliability. I have no problem with any download at 1 or 2 kb/s so long as it keeps coming. If by patience you obtain what you want, why worry?

So I assume that you are reporting a high failure rate, ie that downloads start off at 1 or 2 kb/s and then peter out to nothing.

LW is not a spectator sport. You have to play it actively like a game. If you are only getting a nominal reponse from your connected host, cut your losses and try for a better connection with another host. Once you find a source that appears more reliable, you have to play it like a fish. There are a number of strategies you can find to optimise downloading. If you are prepared to put in the effort, you will be rewarded by improved results.

Have fun. Treat it as a challenge. But if you just sit there and watch connections fail. . .!

Actually you could make it a spectator game. BearShare for example retries hosts much more aggressively and achieves a higher success rate.
