![]() I recently switched computers that I use Limewire with - same external hard drive for sharing files though . Now I can't find any of my recent downloads! I have a folder on the external hard drive designated by limewire as where to save downloads. But they're nowhere to be found....anywhere on my computer! I've also changed locations, still using a cable modem, but with a different service. HELP! ~~incentive to help me quickly....I've got over 5000 files on that hard drive available for sharing ![]() |

![]() I've checked the path....no files where they should be I've searched the whole computer for a known download....not found anywhere new hard drive so it shouldn't be going bad yet (I hope!!! It has all my music files on it) any other ideas? could the change in computers be the problem? change in cable service? Or maybe I need a new download of Limewire cause it got corrupted in the transfer of computers? |

![]() So you have upgraded your computer and kept your existing external hard drive. Assuming that you have not reinitialised the hard drive (ie that you still have access to most of the other data that was stored on it), this could be a problem of the interface between your "old" driver and the new operating system — that, for no terribly good reason, your new OS will not read across the full range of disk addresses. (My printer stopped working when I upgraded to OS10.2.5.) Check with the manufacturer of the hard drive to see whether there are compatibility problems with your new OS. You may find there is a new driver on their website that will solve your problem. If that doesn't work, then you will have to get into the business of data recovery from the disk. Assuming that the files have not been corrupted, recovery should be possible. PS. The change of location and of the ISP are not relevant. |

![]() some interesting ideas but they don't quite fit the situation. First I didn't exactly upgrade, just switched to sharing from my desktop (cube) to my laptop (titanium). Both are running the same OS (10.2.4) so there shouldn't be any driver issues with the external hard drive. PLUS I've since tried downloading/sharing with Acquisition .84 and haven't had the missing file problem This makes me wonder if it's a problem with a corrupted copy of Limewire (copied over from the desktop) hmmmmm |

![]() So the next logical step would be to trash all the LW elements on the "new" machine (don't just use uninstall but get every last bit you can find with Finder), then donwload a new version of LW and install that on a clean slate. |
