"Could not Connect, Awaiting Sources" - Always?! I've been trying for a week now to download files and though a few came through at first, for the past several days, no matter what file I pick, it just says "Connecting" and then "Could not Connect, Awaiting Sources" and lines up with all the rest that said the same thing. I've read through the FAQ and one post that explained how to better assure a successful download. I changed everything accordingly - especially only looking for 3-4 stars. And yet, I'm not getting anything! People are uploading from my files just fine! So why can't I download any files! Thanks so much for any help with this! |

So sorry about that - I'm used to forums that automatically include my info and just forgot! Okay - I'm running under Mac OS 10.2.5, Limewire 2.9.8. |
Ouch! Thanks for including the info; but I'm convinced there are some major problems with OSX 10.2.5 and the LW 2.9.8 that will not be fixed shortly. The OSX version of LW is still using java 1.3.1. For the next few weeks, try Acquisition : it's basically LW at the core, but the developer has adapted it to work on OSX with java 1.4.1, so let him worry about getting LW to work on OSX while the LW team gets the next release ready. You could try running the uninstall AND trashing the ~/Library/Preferences/LimeWire folder, ~/Library/Preferences/LimeWire.plist, and the Incomplete folder (salvage what you can for curiousity, but very few are likely to resume). Some other OSX ~/Library setting gets corrupted too, but I can't find it. There are other possibilities, but you've already read the threads, so if you find something new . . . do post back. Cheers. [edit--you DID know about cmd-clicking the search tabs to "repeat search", right? Kick me if that's all you need!] |
Mac OSX 10.2.5, LW 2.9.8 Pro DSL Verizon and Airport wireless Mac Powerbook Titanium G4 400Mhz Same prob here that has gotten worse and worse. I used to get one dwnld before the "waiting for sources" no go. Now it's on everything. Might be the installation? As in resources or plist in user/Library or System/Library? whadooaino? I relied Acquisition but find too many hosts offline. I have yet to get a single complete dwnld from Acq. Everyone gets nixed by the host offline or busy or waiting in line. I wish my Limewire worked as it did for so long. Now I'm payin Apple .99c per song. And they only have a handful of songs on iTunes Store. *sigh* Limewire and Gnutella are (were?) the best... |
Same error msg but using OS X I am a brand new user running Limewire 2.9.8 that I installed today on G4 with OS 9.2.2. I am seeing the exact msg and unable to download ANYTHING at all: Could not Download; awaiting sources. I dumped my .limewire folder to rebuild the prefs. that did not help. I am seriously wondering after reading some of these postings if this will work... I have Earthlink DSL, and a Linksys wireless router as well.... Any ideas????? |
Re: "Could not Connect, Awaiting Sources" - Always?! Similar problem w/me. Made changes in tools/options for better connections also. Am seeing lots of connections, and a few uploads; but no downloads, tho. Using Win2000, connect via Comcast cable. If you learn more, pls forward info to me c/o herbwx@comcast.net --------------------------- Quote:

Re: Same error msg but using OS X I would like to stick w/Limewire, but can't seem to download anything since upgrading to v2.9.8 two days ago. To ensure I hadn't erred at my end, I downloaded a similar program, Shareaza, and it works fine right from the get-go. At least I can use it and download stuff while I solve the Limewire issues. Awaiting Sources To all, The same has happened to me. Revert back to Limewire v2.7. This version seems less buggy. Armadillo |
