Default Mp3 not opening in correct application

Ok... so I am working with limewire on a mac. Everything was ok, I was getting downloads and all. Then, one day... i opened limewire, and it said that i could no longer continue on the version I was running (this one had only been downloaded a few weeks!) SO, I downloaded the new version. I am able to download mp3's, but instead of launching into my iTunes, it goes into quicktime! So I can't burn cd's of anything Does anyone know how to change this? Any help is appreciated!

Default MP3 Files

Hi There

An MP3 file is always an MP3 file and can be played by any applications package that you have on your machine. To deal with the present situation, go to iTunes and pull down the Add To Library menu option. Now just add the new files to iTunes. Slow going, but the global alternative results in massive duplications to be weeded out.

For the future, go to iTunes Preferences and make sure that you have checked iTunes as the default format for downloads from the internet. Whenever you are downloading upgrades of any software which can affect music on your machine, it is always a good idea to quickly reinforce this iTunes default setting (Quicktime is always lurking and tries to sneak in when you're not watching).

Default Hmmm

It seems that your head was seriously damaged. Please identify which bit of my advice posted above you did not understand, or say what you tried and what results you obtained so that a Plan B advice can be tendered. As it stands, your post does not help your cause because it fails to give any information as to your machine, operating system, Limewire version, error messages given, etc, etc, etc..

Default For David91

Thank you! It seems to be mostly working, but sometimes files do open in quicktime. I just kill it, and redownload til it comes out right. Frustrating, but I get it! Thanks again

Default Wait a moment

There is no need to kill and redownload the file. All you need to do is to add the file to the iTunes Library. iTunes will play a file no matter whether it is labelled iTunes or Quicktime. If this has not proved true for some of your downloads there is another quite different possible reason. Many record companies, dismayed by the volume of illegal copying, have been seeding the internet with spoof copies that either will not play at all or only play nonsense or abusive messages. Sorry, I should know this could not apply to you because you never do anything illegal, do you?!
