BBird, I agree, and I have been sharing everything ( at least my files ) with the group. That is not the problem. What I do is save all the downloads to one directory until they are checked, cropped, and editted if needed, then I move them into a shared directory. I have all kind of editing equipment and make a lot of my own .mp3's, I don't want an unfinished product to be posted. That is another reason for the removed directory. I just want my downloads to go to a simple file called c:\mp3-downloads\. Sometimes it works for a session, but then reverts back to c:\documents\joeblabla\downloads\shared\blabla ... Any program that I use that works ( not too many around anymore ) as advertised, I support. The $ 9.50 was well worth it. The people that helped me with their shared files I hope will be helped by mine. Also, watch out for my "(my remixes)", clearly marked. They will usually make you laugh. As a retired broadcast engineer with heavy ties into production, I still have the equipment - the ear - and the time to play around. Thanks, SWJ |

swj, you earlier mentioned that lw moved a directory? i don't think lw can move directories. i tried to reproduce your problem, again, and it always works. i am wondering whether it has something to do with your system. i am using NTFS and doing frequent maintenance. regarding the sharing: please also share the files as you download them. the gnutella network heavily relies on the same file being available from multiple sources. |

What I said was "then I move them into a shared directory". I don't move the directory. I move the files. I have just completed another test of what I described as a problem, and I can get it to duplicate everytime. I don't know why you can't. Basically, I made two directories when I started using the program. MP3 and MP3-downloads. MP3-Downloads did work as a host directory for the downloads using the shareware program, but fails under the purchased program. Error message states "Invalid directory for saving files". I also attempted to make MP3 ( my shared directory ), my download directory also. It also gave me the error message "invalid directory". My only choice is to use the default directory selected by Limeware. Thanks, SWJ |

Windows Xp, 2 Mhz Intell, cable modem, P4 512k 478 pin, 80Gb HD ... I don't know anything else that might be important. When I made the last test, all other programs were closed and Limewire was the only app. running. Tnx, SWJ |

hmm.. maybe it has something to do with installing pro after /over free limewire? did you uninstall free limewire before installing pro? maybe you could try to get rid of everything limewire related

I have no problem doing that, in fact should have thought of it before. Does anyone know if I can re-download for free after uninstalling it. That is the only problem with not having a startup disc. I'll wait for a reply before attempting the re-install. Tnx, SWJ UPDATE Re-installed, same problem. NEXT. Last edited by SWJ; June 17th, 2003 at 01:04 PM. |

I have Mas OS X, so I can't try to duplicate your problem... The only suggestions I can really give are to trash your LW preferences, and if the problem still persists, try uninstalling LW, trashing everything of LW, and then reinstalling. Maybe someone with XP knows a solution? |

What I found: Lime wants to create the directory ( folder ). It also wants the download directory to be a sub-directory. The way I had it that wasn't working right was: c:\mp3 (for shared files) c:\mp3-downloads (for downloaded files) The way it will work now is: c:\mp3 (for shared files) c:\mp3\downloads (for downloaded files) (*) (*) directory created by limewire. Anyhow, much easier for me to check and move the files. SWJ |

What I do is to let LW put the shared music downloaded in its shared folder, then I review each song to my satisfaction. If all is good and the songs meets my standards I then copy it into a different personal folder. That way I know that they are safe. It's an extra step and it's just a band aid but it works for me. That's All. |
