Complete Files disappear Hi all. I am running the latest versio of Limewire pro on OS X (also most recent version as of 5/16/03) I am having nothing but problems witht he app in the last few days. I will down load any number and type of files, to the point where Limewire says "Status: Complete" yet, the files are just gone. Any ideas on how I can fix this? Many thanks! |

Hi Penn: The easy fix would be to check your save folder name and location in the LW prefs, or try a finder search for the name of one of the files you saw complete to see if it might be saved somewhere unexpected. Hard disk space isn't an issue is it? Let's hope the files turn up. Do post back to help others. |

No Joy Thanks for responding! I appreciate your suggestions, but those are a couple things I already tried. the files have a folder destination living on my desktop. the really strange thing is that it works occasionaly just fine, but doesn't others. Another symptom of the problem might be the fact that VERY often, I will get to the 100% complete mark, only to be told Lime found file corruption. As for storage, I have about 100+ gigs free on this machine. I am kinda lost, so I just reinstalleld and will see what happens. Thanks again! |

Hmm--I've noticed that OSX doesn't update the desktop folder icons as often as I'd expect, but they do show up in GraphicConverter's Browse! What about designating another folder as your Save folder on the same partition as the home folder? There were some problems with iMovie and the like with external firewire drives, but I thought those were fixed. As for the file corruption, sometimes the files are just fine, but the error message can be triggered by a slow hash update from the host computer. The LW crew just released 2.9.11 in time for the weekend, so maybe that will help. Occasionally I've reinstalled java (fixes the could not move to library message for me), so that's another possibility. |

Got it! Ok, here is the final scoop on this saga... I found where I was going wrong. I uninstalled Limewire twice and reinstalled to no effect. Then, cause I am a dimwit, noticed that my previous download attempts and user preferences were showing up in the new installs. So, I did a search on my HD, and bingo. The uninstaller was not de-installing the "preferences" file in the library. I manually removed that, did an install, and success! I would highy recommed that the Limewire folks code the uninstaller to perform a full uninstall to aviod circimstances just like this. Just a thought. Thanks again for all you help!! |
