Complete Downloads??? Hello, I have been using LimeWire Pro for quite some time and have had good results even though I'm limited to a dial up connection. I recently upgraded my OS to Win XP through a clean install. After I re-installed LimeWire I can't seem to complete a download. I have no problem connecting, searching or starting a download, but it almost always will quit some where between 5 and 40%. The only way I can complete it is to kill it, and re-start from the same source. This will get another 5-10 % before it quits again and I have to repeat the process. Its very frustrating!!! Has anyone come across this problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated!! Dkshaver |
If you have XP's firewall turned on I would recommend you try turning it off. Go to control panel, open network connections and highlight your modem connection. Click change settings of this connections. Select the advanced tab. Uncheck "protect my computer". Try a couple downloads and see if this fixes your problem. Please note I do not recommend you run forever without a firewall in place but XP's is a pain at best and does not afford the best protection available. Good Luck, Norm |
thanks... Norm, thanks for the input. I do have XP's firewall disabled, you're right its not the greastest. I run Zone Alarm and have it configured to allow LimeWire. I even tried shutting down ZoneAlarm and downloading, but the problem remained. I was wondering if it might be a problem in the way I have LimeWire configured. Anyway, thanks again. DK |
