Hi,

I assume you mean MP3's.

If you want to move files from a music CD to your computer you must "rip" them. Then they will appear as MP3's. To do this you use a software program such as Musicmatch.

I am not sure where you want to move files from and where you want them to go when you upload them.

1) I'm using Mac OSX on a PowerBook G4, if someone could tell me how to do my bit and share from iTunes I'd be grateful.
2) Just started using LimeWire, finding it v slow at the moment, but only using 56k modem at home, so presume that is why?
3) Also, exactly what is 'shared'? Is it just the Shared folder in the Library, or is there another Shared folder in my hard drive which people can access?

thanks in advance and sorry for all the questions....

Default sorted one question... only to come up with another

have sorted putting iTunes into my Shared folder (sorry about crap question, I didn't realise it was so easy).
Do have another question though - I am using a 56k modem. If I want to download a song, do I have to get it from someone else using a modem, or can I use cable/T1 etc? And would that be quicker? Sorry -- I know nothing about computers but am learning all the time from you guys!

You sure learn quickly! (interesting about the 100).

Re 2--you can download from any speed--some people only download from higher speeds, which means the modem users often get overlooked. I've had some great results from modem users.

re 3, "Shared" is the default name of the folder LW automatically uses to share the files within it. Other programs also have folders called "Shared" (if you open your hard drive on OSX and look in the "Users Folder" you'll see another folder called "Shared" It's the one all the users at your keyboard can access and has nothing to do with LW.

You can share any folder you want: when in the "Library" Pane of LW, the file menu will change so you can add or remove other folders. ONLY the folders listed in your Library are shared by LW, so you can always see what you have allowed other LW users to see.

Sometimes it's just easier to share one of your iTunes folders: that way both programs can access the same files.

Cheers--and ask away! We all learn that way.
