downloads slow down with upgrade

Welll as soon as I upgraded to Limeqire for maz OSX my DL speed died. I've got all the required download/upload, modem speed selected correctly, I'm on Broadband, DSL and was getting average, 20kbps before upgrading now it's down to ) to 3kbps. And this is the same no matter what I'm looking for?

Which version? After installing more than 16 of the versions that have been released in the last six months, I've come to the conclusion that the rapid development of gnutella changes so many variables that it's very difficult to say (almost bloody impossible) what is responsible for yesterday, today or tomorrow's speed.

Actually, today I'm trying a download that a few months ago took weeks to even start. In just an hour today--it's half done. Could be coincidence, but . . .

If you see such a quick change though, my first step would be to call my ISP and find out if they have decided to "filter" gnutella traffic. That could easily explain such a big change.

Thanks for the reply, as for your suggestion, I wouldn't even know how to explain, "filtering the Gnuttella network" to the faceless queue of bodies at my ISP who will answer the phone and pass me on to someone else who will put me on hold to speak to an operator who will pass me on to someone who has difficulty speaking English etc etc. I can just hear them now, "limewire what? Gnuttella what?"
Seriously though if someone would explain how I might make such an arguement so I knew what I was talking about I'd give it a go.

My version is called " instal anywhere 5" and interestingly, I've allowed 3upload slots and reduced the upload to it's min, and each slot is getting 4kbps consistently yet my dl speed is hovering at 0 to 1 or 2 kbps.

Sorry--I meant the version of LW you can see in "About LimeWire" (btw, the new beta version just released is much better for OSX--no installer; just a .dmg! )

Some downloads will always be slow if they come from a slow host, of course.

Just ask your ISP which file sharing programs they allow, for starts. If I get a chance later, I'll look up some threads and links that makes this clearer.

Yes, thanks. Did you open the firewall on OSX (preferences->sharing->firewall->new->Gnutella/LimeWire 6346) ?
