windows media player downloaded files appear to be complete and intact, but when attempting to launch some of them, the text turns red and they become unusable. nearly all downoad as mp3, but player doesn't recognize some of them and either ads its own extension (I believe it's wmf or similar) without a prompt (certainly unacceptable) and won't open some at all - hence the red text and exclaimatiion point This problem seems to have been greatly exacerbated by the nearly simultaneous downloading of both new versions of windows media player and lw.
WMP Wndws media plyr has been a marginal performer at best. Perhaps someone could make a suggestion about alternative players. The extension problem also creates chaos when attempting to compile a CD from media library. hope u can assist.
lost in windows cyberville.
