Uploading files - Size restrictions? Some files stay red? - MacOS9 user

Would appreciate any and all info on this:
have a bunch of mov and mpg files I put in my shared file so Limeusers can download them. All seems to be going well but have this question.
I notice when I add files to my share folder they start by being red for a period of time, then they start after a time and turn black then start being downloaded. But when I added a large mov file (about 300 megs) my list of shared files went red below this file and including it. Do I have to have this file up for a long time (many hours) for it to start becoming shared? Does it have to do with how big it is? Why do the 3 files listed above it all remain shared as soon as I log in? Is there a limit to how big the files I share can be? Does that mean I have to keep trying to log in until they all show up?
