Default Download Speed Sucks

Hi new member of Limewire Pro, I heard so much about the speed on limewire so I got the pro version. My first couple of downloads were great and I was happy as hell. Then the more I tried to download my dl speed went to 2 to 6 kp/s this sucks big time. I've not seen anything over the 6 kp/s in two days now.

I have a brand new computer top of the line with a gig of memory and have nothing running in the background.

Is there something I need to configure different or what?

What gives?

Rocky

How do you connect? DSL, Cable, 56K? If you are on broadband, try downloading a very popular song, that is green T1, and has 20 hosts, it should come in 50K -300K/s... and be sure that you are not host to the W32.KWBOT.WORM, thousands on P2P are and it is a pain.

Hi LimeflowerPower,
I am using cable so like I said when I first got on Limewire my downloads were fast as hell, but zip 2 to 6 kps.

What is green T1, I know T1 is broadband speed right.

I've downloaded a few songs and the same thing happens speed wise.

I used Norton's Anti-Virus also.

Hi all
I downloaded Limewire Pro last night and so far I have managed 50 kps once the rest of the time its between 5 and 10 sometimes as slow as 1 kps.
This is very disappointing as like someone else here I have a brand new computer with 512 ADSL what is wrong please?
I did a full check before I posted here with Norton and it showed up nothing, what I cant understand is the Bit rate of the file I was going to dowload said 160 what is the reason for such slow dowloads?
I am not an expert at all and was expecting that having a new computer and upgrading my line from 56k Modem to ADSL that all downloads would be Whooosh like, can anyone please explain to me why this happens?
Thanks in advance.
Andrew.

I agree totally, the speed really sucks I have tried numerous times on different days and once in a while a song might come thuough with a fast speed but nothing else does.

I am looking for a new shareware client now, I am sorry I purchased this program, I hate when they promote their service and can't follow thru on their claims, such a shame!!!

The first day I downloaded the service I was getting great download rates! They must put you on the back burner once you buy their product, lol.

Hi Rocky
sorry to hear that you are suffering the same so perhaps now one of the persons in charge of Limewire might want to address these points please as we have paid for a service that you are advertising but obviously not providing, anyone please?
Peace
Andrew.

Default Powers to be

I doubt it, they got our money, that's why no one wants to buy **** on the internet. You won't hear a peep out of them, they will just get fat and happy as all business owners do.

We might get a message to update for a fee before you get any help to solve your current problems, lol.

I am just so tired of all the spam in email and internet rip offs.

No one has any answers for the little guy don't cha know!!!

FYI: LimeWire is not a download service! It is a client for the Gnutella Network and you're downloading from people like me and you (i.e. we are the service). It doesn't matter how fast your connection or computer is as long as the person on the other side (your download source) is connected with an analog Modem. Well, Gnutella is a bit more advanced - e.g. simultaneous downloads from multible sources etc. - but not always are all sources available or let you download.

So be an example and share your files and be an UltraPeer. This will improve our overall Gnutella experience. :-)

Default Hi rkapsi

Sorry to seem so down, but it does get you down to see files you are trying to download are dragging along and files that are being uploaded from my computer just zipping along.

I have tons of files to share and don't mind at all, I can understand how a file would drag coming from a modem but from a T1, DSL or cable connection they were flying when I first got the program and now it sucks big time.

I have bellsouth.net DSL. On most things like loading pages it is much faster than the old 56k dial up. However, on the majority of the files I download they run about 1 or 2 kb/s. Now manyof the files are 3000+ kb. And 3000 seconds ... well you do the math. Some of the files will d/l at 40 or 50 kb/s but most don't.

Any suggestions or ideas?

Thanks in advance,

dd
