Could Not Move to Library

I am unable to use LimeWire because the minute I click to download the progress goes directly to 100% and "Could Not Move To Library." Each and every request to download does this. Yesterday when the problem first began there had been a message that LimeWire had encountered an error and it asked if I would like to debug and send a message. I clicked yes, but still I am unable to use LimeWire. Help!

I've had a similar problem when trying to download a file with special characters (éàèç ...) in the name. This doesn't happen with gtk-gnutella so it seems a typical LimeWire problem.

Do you have this problem all the time?

No, I haven't, I have had tremendous success with LimeWire. This is my work connection and after leaving it on all night (I have done this before with no problems) I arrived at work to find the message "George Carlin - ...Could Not Send (or whatever) to Library. Over the course of this night I had downloaded several full length albums which went to the Library without problem. I am wondering if the size and amount of the downloads (3 large) caused some difficulty. Whatever happened I can no longer use LimeWire. Each request for download receives an instaneous message "Cannot send to library" with Progress as 100%. When asked to launch there is nothing there. I sent the "bug" message, but now there seems to be nothing I can do to revive LimeWire; it is dead. Thanks a million for answering!

"could not move to library" means you're out of room!

Hi all,

I came here searching for how to move the "could not move" files - I already know that when you get that "bug" for the first or repeated times, it means that Limewire has no space to put new files. Check your drive or your partition where you're storing downloaded music and you will likely find that you have filled taht space up with downloads!

But, what to do once you've deleted some stuff or moved things around and have some room again for new files?

I am guessing from another comment in here, that it simply says 100% when it notes that it cannot move files to the already-full library, however, these files are still incomplete and no new files will start partially downloading either until space is made available on the hard drive.

So, it seems, we will have to search again for the "could not move" files and download them from scratch once we have the space available on the drive.

Hope this helps!

=)

reinstall

I had the exact same problem, so I uninstalled and then reinstalled the limewire software, and everything works again.

same problem here, we have windows xp and one account can run limewire fine while mine can't. i get the could not move to library message. but we've just downloaded the program so space isnt an issue - we only have 4 songs in the directory! help!

Sounds to me like a problem with the file permissions. If say the administrator on WinXP installed LimeWire some of the files and folders may be write protected resulting in could-not-move-to-library errors.

I also had this problem. I run windows XP and found that all was OK with myself (Being Administrator) but other accounts could not download (100% complete immediately and 'Could not move to Library '). I have however now fixed this.

The problem is that the default download folder is in the Limewire folder which in turn comes under folder 'Program Files'. Only the administrator has access to this folder.

Solution: in Limewire options set the SAVED folder to a shared folder that all users have access to. I did find though that using the browse option did not work so I had to manually type in the path and apply. This worked for me.
