I had a similar problem with eMule. My provider is reducing the speed of some ports - call your ISP and ask them if they are doing it. Try to change your port, it helped me, my speed increased from 3kb to 60kb.

Default wicked slow downloads

I am also having the same problem but I don't know what ports are available or where to switch it to. If I am lucky I can get 5kb/s for a second or two but the average is 1kb/s. How do I change the port and to which one? Please help 'cause I have a cable connection that runns great for everything else. Nothing is as good for downloading and userfriendlyness as limewire (I have pro) so any help will be very welcome.

nic

ps I live in Mexico and don't think that I can accurately communicate with my ISP.

Post Post Script: I have combed the forums for hours and hours over the last three days before posting because I tried everything and so far nothing has worked.

Thanks for the reply but I have read (and implimented) these posts many times each with no luck. I cannot find out my speed because even a download with 116 users I get 6 kb/s (link two says to try this to discover your speed) I have also tried setting it around (both above and below) the values that I get most often when downloading something off of Internet Explorer (average about 21 kbps but I have seen much higher). The most I ever got was 6 on L/W. I hope anyone can help me beyond these links. I apreciate your response you may have helped me clarify for more people to help.

Nic

When you download with many sources like the ones you have you should get a great speed, but I guess it doesn't matter how many users but also their speed is important. don't get too discouraged cause we all get from 1 - 5 kb per sec usually but sometimes we get really good connections you'll get one eventually

oh nearly forgot
Do you have alot of uploads..? these can sometimes slow you down to change how many are allowed at the same time, go in tools, options, uploads, and than click on the sub categories, and change the settings there

hope it finally works out for you

Just try this.
To find out your dld and upload bandwidths just call your ISP and ask them what you're paying for.
I can get max speeds with as few as 3 or 4 hosts so I figure that that link might help.
Also, do the bug report and see if it says false or true. Go to www.limewire.com : in the FAQs section you'll learn how to configure your firewall to allow LW to access the net.

Thank you both for you help (thanks for the words of hope 'stupididiot69') I have read the link that was marked 'this' and it is one of the same that I have tried to use many times.

I live in mexico but I don't speak very good spanish so Is there any other way to find out my bandwidth? If not I will try and communicate with them.

I will look for bugs and see if that helps at all (where do I look).

I will also see if I need to reconfigure my firewall.

Thanks again I will post again if I still have trouble!

Nic
