You probably don't accept incoming connections because your firewall or router is badly configured. Since most other gnutella users are firewalled too and two firewalled hosts cannot download from one another it would explain both your slow downloads and the low number of uploads you see (or don't see). |

Hi, I have the same problem on XP, been on for 8hrs solid and not 1 upload! Rechecked settings and all in order am sharing 1800 files (well trying too). If it's the Firewall settings then could someone give me and probably others the relevent details (settings) to cure this please? Regards Reece. |

Hi Morgwen, I just have XP PRO, LimeWire 3.6.15 Pro, Java JRE installed, 56k Modem, The firewall is XP's default, no networking. Have not had XP long am used to 98SE and used zonealarm but I have been told that XP has it's own built in. LimeWire settings seem ok but I have not ticked Force IP as I would not know what to place in Port as it contains 6346 and going to www.whatismyip.com comes up with xxx.xxx.xxx.xx format and how do you fit this number (dots as well) in place of 6346, this shows that I do not know much about this subject, but really only want to allow others to upload from me. Have been on another 8 hours but still no uploads. Any help would be appreciated. |

Cripes!, this is getting complicated! After reading this article then going through help files brings me to "network connections" then there is "Dial-up connections" and "Lan or high speed Internet" checking properties of both reveals they both have firewall settings, the "Lan or high speed internet" is disabled and the "Dial-up" is enabled. Going further in "Dial-up connections" Advanced - settings has a tab for "sevices", "security logging" and ICMP. Services has 11 tick box's, only 2 ticked: msmsgs 11982 UDP msmsgs 12875 TCP ICMP has 9 tick box,s (all unticked): Allow incoming ech request Allow incoming timestamp request Allow incoming mask request Allow outgoing destination unreachable Allow outgoing source quench Allow outgoing paramater problem Allow outgoing time exceeded Allow redirect I don't know if any of these should be ticked to allow uploads? Advise would not go astray!! |

Thanks Morgwen but with viruses on the rampage I dare not!! However I will wait patiently and maybe someone will read this and know exactly what to do, maybe, anyway it's after midnight here in Adelaide Australia and I have a big day tomorrow so I will call it quits for now, Thanks again for your time. Oh I noticed I put "Ech" instead of Echo!! Bye |
