Active downloads that become queued I frequently have downloads that are proceeding nicely (from a single host), then suddenly revert to "Waiting in line, position ?". I was just wondering what the reason might be. So far I've come up with: 1. A fluke of the download protocols 2. A setting on my system 3. A setting on the other user's system 4. A gremlin that roams the internet randomly causing disruptions Any enlightenment you can give me would be appreciated. |

;) 2. Not really. 3. Yes. Depending on the 'client', 'Upload Queueing' can be enabled or disabled and the number of 'Upload Queues' allowed can be selected. 4. THAT is there ALL the time !!!!!!!! "All hail Upload Queueing !" ---------------------- A note: If anyone out there is allowing 'Upload Queueing', please THINK ! Large numbers of allowed Queue slots are ridiculous. Certain clients actually have 2,000 Upload Queues as the DEFAULT !!! Please consider the impact this has on the Network in regards to unnecessary consumption of bandwidth and the simple fact that the majority of users who are on dial-up 56k connections are going to be dumped long before they may be able to benefit from the Upload Queueing feature. Try to work with a maximum of 6-10. |
