Default how do i scan my hard drive?

How do I scan my hard drive to find my missing shared file folder? I'm new to this computer thing so if you could help me out that would be appreciate it

Depends on the OS. If the Shared folder shows in your Library pane, click on it and hit the Explore button. On OSX, just click on the desktop and type command-F to use the Finder's Find features.
