Default Search Cable/DSL speeds ONLY option?

Kinda new at this but extremely frustrated at the "corrupt file" problem.

So how can I set my search to NOT include "T3 or higher"? I've already set my search option to "show all speeds". But ALL the results are "T3 or higher" and not one "Cable/DSL" in sight.

Thanks.

I think a lot of people are missing the point here.

There are no files stored at this site or LW's site. The files you downld are mostly from people like you & me. I say mostly b/c obviously the RIAA/Music Industry & possibly the Movie industry are loading up servers with corrupt files to deliberately combat the sharing of copyright material. For music it seems T3 servers & video T1 servers.

Exactly!!! And who would do that!

Even if it is the RIAA or the IRS or the Swedish Mafia or who the heck ever, the Limewire server isn't run by babies. Whichever way you look at it, it doesn't seem like the people who collect the $$$ are putting much effort into this at all. Granted, I have seen a big improvement in my search quality by trying out some of the suggestions made by some of you guys. But that's not the point. The moderators here are so used to washing their hands of problems and practicing blind faith in their beloved little program, they're now doing it without thinking.
It has nothing to do with the program! It's the source of the file! If I deliberately put a corrupt file up for sharing, then how is it LW's or the program's fault? And apparently yes, LW is working bit by bit at trying to combat these issues. For a start, you can use Bitzi Web-Lookup for movies & other things: Right-click (Control-click for mac) on the file & choose

Apparently 'some' corrupt files can be repaired. A couple of people have suggested fixes to those so called corrupt files. There's apparently at least 2 utility apps out there that can fix many. I don't know about all. See these: 1. video-fixer & 2. MP3RepairTool Both utilties can repair audio files.

Corrupt music & movie issues are best tested by previewing the files whilst they're still downloading.

For Bitzi Web lookup Right-click on the search result to find out reports about that particular file. (Mac users Control-click for same result!)

Another point I forgot to mention is that LW does have a corruption detection process. If all the bits, bytes & nibbles don't match with the original then it will attempt to downld the last part again. It may fail if the original is corrupt or there's continual interference in transmissions, or the original file has changed.

LW cannot detect corrupt movies & music if the file is complete & 'appears' to be normal. At this point that's the responsibility of the user to detect anything wrong with the file by previewing it & using Bitzi. A more experienced forum member or programmer will be able to give a better & more accurate description.

Default Bitzi

I absolutely love Bitzi but......it no longer works. I updated to 4.4.5 and can no longer access Bitzi. Any ideas why?

Hey Guys,

As a solution in the options menu under Filters > Hosts put just type in what most of the IP addresses are that you are block like this: 33.*.*.* and it will remove all the results from that. I've had to block 33 and 66 and it removes ALL T3 connections!

This concept has been thought of before but not all T3 users are bad. eg: There's several T3 users that are members & mods of the forum. And they may be acting as Ultrapeers to help others like yourself connect to the G network. So keep that in mind.

Is there any way to block based on the vendor/agent string?

All of the corrupt files I seem to get are listed as "Gnucleus 2.0.1.0 (GnucDNA 1.0.2.6)", afaik Gnucleus is at a higher version than this, 2.0.8.0 or something.

I've noticed 3 things with corrupt files:
1) "T3" conection
2) same file size is listed as almost every bitrate from 128-320
3) Gnucleus 2.0.1.0 vendor string

Default Help needed downloading from uncorrupted files

Hi, I'm both a newbie at Limewire as well as participating in message boards, but after having read through many of the discussions looking for a solution to my problem, I still find myself with questions that need answers...

I get the whole T3 thing which of course sucks in the first place, but my problem is that after finding that out and then starting to look for different sources such as cable or modem users as alternatives when wanting to download a "new" or "popular" file I find myself with a whole new set of problems...

Here is the thing; When I find an alternative source through changing my ways of searching they usually are single sources, (no number of sources attached to it), but when trying to download such a file, what usually happens is that Limewire tells me I need more sources... So I push the find-more-sources button, over and over... but after a while the message "file could not be downloaded" almost always comes up... How do you download a file from a single source that ought to have like tons of sources considering how so many users like me must be searching for these rare files when the alternative always are these tons of corrupted T3 files?
I totally don't care if it takes time to download from a modem for instance, but what is the purpose of file sharing when a file never seems to be able to be downloaded unless there already are loads of sources behind it? I mean every file must at one time have been the first?

I don't know, or maybe I'm just a dumb newbie, but there seems to me that if one is to get around the corrupted T3 files people should be able to download from the ones that aren't?

I'm greatful for any help or insight into this problem as you out there can share...

Answer to those corrupted files

hey guys, i had that problem where all the files you download are corrupted. i actually ahd the problem twice (i dont remember how i fixed it the first time... ) anyways, all you have to do is NOT TO DOWNLOAD from T3 users. i am not sure how to filter those hosts out, but if you download from modem or cable/dsl, your download should be fine.

i read in a previous thread that if you blocked hosts 33.*.*.* and 66.*.*.* T3 connections would be blocked... i dont know why but it doesnt work with me...
