But you'll have greater chances of not getting corrupt files if you choose modem, cable/dsl, or T1. Sure modem are a bit slower but there's many more of them & they're reliable files in general.
I'm jumping in in the middle of a several-months-old thread, sorry. Also the thread is so long I got tired of going through it, so sorry if I'm repeating other folks.

I have the same corrupt files problem, especially on new popular songs that have hundreds of files available, so I believe the theory of the industry flooding us w/ corrupt files. I've noticed the T3 thing (but I agree there are still some good T3 files out there). I've come up with two ways to tell which files to avoid: 1. Lord of the Rings' bitrate anomaly. 2. If you hover your pointer over the individual file in your Search window (at least in my old ver of Limewire on Mac OS 9) until you get a popup graphic of the file's mp3 tags, the corrupt files are always missing the time "length".

38.117.*.*
66.54.74.*
66.54.73.*
66.54.72.*
66.54.76.*

Note: not all hosts with 66.*.*.* IP addresses are T3 or above.

I didn't find I needed to block the 68.*.*.* hosts, but since all this must depend on what you search for perhaps it is needed.
Hey, thanks!!! That has worked terrifically for me. I know I'm probably blocking "good" T3 sources, but so be it; I get pretty much only cable/dsl sources populating my search window. A bit slower DL speed, but better than the endless "corrupt" file messages. Thanks again!!

Default How to determine legit T3 connections

To determine a real T3 connection, right click on the file you want to download and hit browse host. If it is a corrupt file, the result will say Error: could not browse host. In my experience, only hosts with this error message provide corrupt files. Sometimes, files with search results will be corrupt,(but the files withing the browse host results are legit for some reason!) but a host with the error message always seems to be providing corrupt files.

Angry corrupted files

I keep getting corrupted files that sound like the multi-host downloading is splicing together when played in preview if they will preview at all

dont know why it worked but......

I searched for 2 weeks for a track and downloaded every version i got thru the search and every single one was corrupt and then I found a way round it.

Instead of searching for artist and track I just searched for the artist and then selected the track from the search results....got the track no problem and I have done this ever since and not had another single corrupt track.

Like I say, I've got no idea WHY it would work, but it did for me.... maybe worth a try?

Thumbs up corrupt files

I tried what guestblahblahblah said and it worked!!! I have been trying to get music for weeks now and it all seems to be corrupt even the older music so that wasnt it. and finally this worked I just put in the artist without the song title. I did get one or towo corrupt still but mostly I got the song. Great Idea!I thank you sooooo much for figuring this out.

well guys im having the same prob.

heres what i come up with. last night i downloaded 2 songs no prob. today i tried and cant get anything but corrupt files.

now i have a natted connection but it always worked fine. i pay extra for a static ip. so i can get on with 2 different ways. i can choose static or the tower ip(everyone on the tower shows the same ip). when i use the tower ip now i get corrupt files now, but when i switch to my static ip i can get any file i want with no corrution. is it possible for my isp to be causing the corrupt files?
i cant even really get connect to anyone unless i use my staic ip.

We can all manually block the hosts which we believe are distributing fake, corrupt and spoof material.

I've started a new thread to collect that "Block host" information.
