![]() @ FAQ: Q: Why do I keep getting "Need More Sources"? 1) ... if the person who has the file you’re trying to download has too many people requesting files, he won’t be able to serve any more file requests, and your connection will be refused. 2) If the person you’re trying to download the file from is behind a firewall 3) If both users are behind a firewall, then a push request will not work. (I'M NOT BEHIND A FIREWALL) 4) If the person who has the file you’re trying to download has recently turned off his computer or has disconnected from the Gnutella network, you will be unable to download the file. 5) If the person who has the file you’re trying to download is running inferior or buggy Gnutella software, the download could fail for any number of reasons. 6) If the person who has the file you’re trying to download has since deleted the file or moved it, you may encounter problems downloading the file. Ok... there are too many options to be the cause of my problem but could that explain my 0 downloads. It keep appear the same message "Need More Sources" and the "Find Sources" don't solve the problem. I´ve got the version 3.8.7. Could you help me please? |

![]() Nice clear post! btw, there's a quick check if a firewall (or something) might be active--did you try the http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ test posted in Ursula's handy Tips and Tricks? Routers can also act as firewalls. Version 3.8.9 is out now too. You shouldn't be always getting the source problem message if you download files that show many sources. Have you ever been able to download anything? |

![]() Salut from Mallorca ! Stief is probably sleeping now... The message you received indicates that port 6346 is being blocked (which is a slightly unusual for a European ISP, but there are changes being made by some of them recently). Have a look at Alternate PORTS by clicking on the same link in my 'sig' below... It is a post that is in the Tips & Tricks Forum... Perhaps you can first try an alternative port... As Stief mentions, are you using a router ? The difficulties involved with providing a simple and straightforward answer to the 'connect' problem is that there are so many variables in play due to the great variety of systems and set-ups. Some of us are trying to write a 'definitive' post on the 'connection problem', but... Well, we don't want to ADD to the confusion ! After you try some experiments with alternative ports and confirm any info re: you using a router, we can carry on and further resolve the problems until you have success... There will be a solution for you, honest ! btw... Have you UpLoaded any files to anyone ?

![]() Ola/hi, sorry but I'm a complete ignorant in this issues. 1st question: In the Network Connections/Properties/Advanced it must have the check in the box (Internet Connection Firewall) or not? I don't have it. 2nd: what is a router? 3rd: how can I try an alternative port? THX |

![]() My downloads were just great until my cable internet provider, Comcast, announced they had massively sped up internet speed (so they say). Now, no matter the speed of the host I'm downloading from, I can only seem to download at 3-4kb per second, never more than 10, even when I'm downloading from more than one host! It definitely used to be a lot faster. >What computer Mac Powerbook G4, running 10.3.3 >Type of internet connection Comcast cable broadband. >How you are connected to the internet (as in what 'boxes' are between your machine and the telephone line) I use a Belkin 4 port router to share the connection with my roommate (and it doesn't seem to matter if she's online or not, etc.) I HAVE checked Ursula's port test page, and it said "Your test page was successful!" >What other programs you may have running at the same time as LimeWire It varies, but even with nothing else running, the speed of downloads is consistently slower than it used to be. >Also, is your LimeWire v 3.8.7 a 'new' and 'first-time ever' install, or have you re-installed it or made an upgrade from an earlier version ? I've run other versions before, but recently paid for 3.8.6 Pro for Mac, and downloaded/installed as instructed from the link in the email. At first, this version was working great - lots of downloads, and fast. Now, not so much. Hope I've included everything you need to give me some suggestions! I suppose it could just be that I'm coincidentally going after files that aren't easy to get for various reasons. But even my downloads of very easy MP3's do seem slower than they used to be. Thanks in advance. |
