Ah--try again with partial file sharing turned ON btw--if you check the bug report option--"view example"--look for the line that says "accept incoming this session=true. If it says "false", somethinng is blocking incominng connections. (a restart might be in order too in case java is locked up somehow) curious about that 'test'--I must have just hit a really fast source at the time. |
Nothing worked BUT an interesting development has ocurred. My Desktop downloads at acceptable levels (11-13 kb) but my laptop which is where I was trying to download from is the slow one (it didn't use to be that way). My connection is fine (54 MBPS). I wonder what setting is different etc? |
Probably the host. Do you connect to the internet over a home network or just switch the cable connection between the laptop and the desktop? Did you find the line about "Accept incoming this session=true"? ( in your tools->options->bug reports->view example). |
from fast to slow also. I am having a similar problem. I just upgraded to LimeWire 3.8.10. For the first few hours I was enjoying 50-70 kb/s like I always have with LW. Not sure what changed, but next time I started LW a few hours later, downloads were at 1-14 kb/s, and this is where I've been stuck ever since. This is what I tried so far: 1. set my upload bandwith to 10% 2. disallowed partial sharing 3. max upload slot at 1 4. adjusted my firewall in OS X to allow LimeWire/Gnutella 5. force local IP is on 6. set search result speed DSL or higher 7. set search result at quality 3 and 4 stars I sent an inquiry to my service provider about my ISP, haven't heard back yet. What else can I try? |
Hi Shui could just be the luck of the draw: looks like you're set up fairly well (go ahead and allow more uploads--they shouldn't affect your downloads until they consume ?85% of your upload bandwidth). Some other suggestions: --turn PFS back ON (to take advantage of multiple hosts) --download the beta --check that you can receive incoming connections (see above) |
