very slow d\l?

Hi all, I'm new here and browsing this forum I can't find an answer to my problem: very long strches of time downloading from host or hosts at 0kB/s.
I do share files and I have followed the advice included in this forum, but to no avail. Is there anything I can do to improve the situation?
I've to mention that the indicator at the lower left side of the screen goes between excellent and good.

Any help welcome

Hi Sebastian

The thread above yours covers the topic. Also, transfers from sources at <1KB/s don't show decimals, but you can look in Tools->Statistics->Bandwidth->Downloads to see if the HTTP transfers are "stuck" or actually proceeding in fractions of KB/s.

If stuck--just kill the download, resume it from the Library page and search for new sources. If the same file can be found, it will resume where it left off.

Thank you Stief for your answer. You were right, it was downloading but VERY slowly.
I went to statistics as you suggested and I found out I was d/l
at 0,064 KB\s!!! therefore showing 0KB/s.

I had a look at the thread above mine and I don't think it applies to me, but I could be mistaken as I'm very new at this sort of thing.

Reading other threads related to speed I realize that it could be that I have a problem with the default port. I can't give you details about my intertnet connection because it is a mystery for me.
What I know:
I use an Ethernet card to connect (LAN)
the signal goes to the server, from there goes to a router (I can't find details about that one either), and from there to the ISP.

My question is, Is there a way to find out is the router has forwarded a port, and which one is being forwarded?

My feeling is that the bottleneck might be at the ISP's end or at the router. Do I make sense here? As I said, I am very new at 2p2 ....
Thank you

Hi Sebastian
See if this thread helps check to see if port 6346 is forwarded from the router to your machine. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=23369

or
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=25119

btw--details about router model numbers and platform can help attract answers from those with a similar set-up ;)

There is also a quick port check for firewalls http://www3.limewire.com:6346/
