Default genuine need of help to be a better sharer

i'm really sorry to ask a question that i'm sure has been answered many times here, but i am cross-eyed from reading all the threads and the thing is maybe i'm a bit stupid but i just don't understand most of the answers and advice being given! sorry! i'm just not that technically minded...

i am sharing lots of nice files and people are uploading from me, and i am downloading and generally happy with my download speeds which get up to 15kb/s. my concern is for those uploading tho, who never seem to get above 3kb/s and usually 1kb/s. this must **** them off? i have watched the monitor screen and people do seem to give up early quite often.

i am running 4.0.7 in xp and have 750k broadband. first problem - what is my speed - what the hell does T1 even mean?! like i said i am stupid and i have not been able to find this info anywhere, nor what that 750k actually translates into in terms of download/upload potential bandwidth. i tried the site someone recommended but it only has US providers and i can't find a similar thing for UK. so i don't know what my settings should be for upload/download slots of % of bandwidth for uploads. even having this on unlimited doesn't seem to improve my upload speeds.

please can someone help in very simple language?! like i say my downloads are ok, it's just i feel a bit mean to those trying to upload from me and am frustrated by not being able to figure out what i am doing wrong.

thank you!

Don't worry about your uploads being slow, it might be the host him/herself which is slow. It can also be the network

A T1 is a internet connection which uses the phone and can give the speed of 1 544 Megabits per second. A T-1 line has 24 individual channels, each of which supports 64Kilobits per second.
Note: Bits are much smaller than Bites it's some advertising thing the isp's made up.
I think a T1 should be around 150 megabites per sec though I'm not shure
go to this site to find out your real speed
