![]() When i search, i get too broad results, not specific at all to what i asked for. For example: i enter 'talk talk' in artist field, searching for audio files. I get returned: everything with the word 'talk' in it, whether it's part of a band name, song title, album name, whatever. Is there a way to focus the search? Why does limewire return all this stuff? Also, if i am not in the right forum, please let me know. There is no search forum that i saw. thanks. |

![]() harmonk, Depending on your version of Limewire you should see a panel under the search tab that says "filter results". Select Audio & it will "hide" all the other returns. If you don't have it you might update Limewire. Norm |

![]() Sorry, i was a little vague here. I am searching only for audio files, that's what i selected over on the left of the window, and that's all i get in the results. No problems with seeing other kinds of files, doesn't happen. It's as if the search doesn't consider where i enter the keywords. If i put 'talk talk' in the artist field, i get (it seems) almost anything with the word 'talk' in it, no matter where it appears. For example, the search mentioned above gets me: Talking Heads Tevin Campbell -- Can We Talk The Black Crows -- She talks to angels Talk dirty to me Tracy Chapman -- Talkin bout a revolution (i hate tracy chapman!) There's no discrimination between song title, artist, etc. Sure i could filter, but ... filter like this for every search i want to do? That's a clumsy workaround. What's the point of having different search fields (artist, song title etc) when it seems they are mixed together? Thanks. |

![]() I know what you mean it sucks, but if you put in words or names in the filter you'll never get them so put what you know you'll never download, and you will not have to keep changing your filter. though the option of searching for tittle and artist is a pretty good idea that I think the nest limewire should have. other than that I think you'll just have to live with the problem, cause I don't think that there are any other solutions than the ones mentioned in this forum |

![]() What Norm says is that there are filters in the new versions of LW that allow you to see among the results only the ones that you want. To be more specific, say that there is a band called X (which you are looking for) and multiple songs containing X in their filenames. Running a search for artist X will come up with all kinds of different results like the ones you get. That's where the filters come in. Clicking at the available options in the filters at the left of the page will prompt LW to display in the results window only the ones that meet the criteria. For example, you get some X results for artist and some Y results for album (which here is an album by X). You can choose to see only results from the album Y or only results from artist X. This is kind of a countermeasure IMO for all those badly named files out there or for all those files that got all kinds of keywords crammed in their filenames to make them appear in more searches. It's not Limewire's fault for all those bad filenames or those wrong results. It's the users'. I recommend going through the "trouble" of Google Searching discography by artist "whatever you want" and then searching the individual songs in LW so that you will get waaaaaaay more specific results.
