Default Uploading but not downloading

Win XP Home with new service pack.
LW 4.0.8
Norton FW.
ISP-->1.5mb Blueyonder.

Hi all,

I hope someone can help, it's driving me nuts.
This problem started before I downloaded SP2.
When I start LW the signal strength meter shows only one or two bars.
If I click on Monitor it shows that I am uploading to others at about 28mb, but I do not seem to be able to download anything.
If I click on search I get a pop-up saying I am not connected or my signal is too low.
I have tried messing about with settings but nothing seems to help.
Any help much appreciated, Thanks.

Sorry, I should have said KB,s not MB,s.
I also fail to say that I have been using LW for a long time without any problems up untill now.
Thanks.

That's a tricky problem. Perhaps you don't have LW configured well for 2 way use: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...5&pagenumber=1 (1st post only) and also: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=27036 there might be some points there that can help you to eradicate this problem. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice Lord of The Rings.
I had already configured most of the settings that you recommended, but fine tuned a few more. It does not seem to have cured the problem.
It is indeed a strange one, things have improved a tad over the last two or three hours but this was before I did more fine tuning.
At the moment I have three green lights on the speed indicator.
The strange thing is, I am now able to download at full strength even though the speed indicator is showing only three greens.
When I first logged on to LW this morning I only had one green light and I could not search as I did not have a strong enough signal to search and I had a message pop up telling me that I was not connected, yet when I checked the monitor on LW I was uploading to five different users at 28kb's.
I have just checked LW again and I now have four greens, strange.

Glad to hear it's getting healthy again. Yu don't need to have full green quality connection to be dwnlding to high capacity. In fact it will also do ok sometimes if one of the red indicators is showing. I'm surprised u couldn't do a search though if there was at least 1 green indicator. Possibly the uplders were taking as max uld capacity & not allowing your search to go out. 'If ' this ever happens again, make a note about exactly which apps are uplding from you (see in the monitor window) & post back to us. The reason I'm asking this is b/c there's some rogue p2p apps out there that destroy the health of the Gnutella netwrk. They steal all the upld bandwidth & some can push others out of the way apparently (at least in a queu.)

Thanks, Lord of The Rings.
I will keep my eye on it, and if it happens again will note what app's are uploading.

Just a small clarification: the indicators at the bottom left of the LW window are not speed indicators. They show how good your connection to the Gnutella network is, so, theoretically, you can dld at full speed even if you have Poor connection Status.
