Downloads but No Uploads

I've read all the posts in the forum and configured my computer for LimeWire but can't find a solution to this problem.

Mac g4, OS X 3.5, cable modem, LimeWire 4.0.8

For the last month since i started using LimeWire,
I have not had any uploads. Search hits are well over a thousand for most of the 107 legal files i'm sharing but i'm wondering if the user can get to my files - there appears to be no incoming messages in the status column of the connections.

I can search and download without any problem.

I have this same problem with Poison.

Has anyone heard of this happening?

a very bad taste in music possibly?,no more to the point i am no expert but try going to options and check you have allowed upload slots and try turning bandwith up

Legal files arenīt very popular! ;)

It doesnīt matter when you have hits, its possible that only a part of the name match with the keyword. You can ask a friend to search for your files and try to download them but I suppose there is no problem!

There could be many reasons your files aren't being uploaded, but there are some check you can make.

The first is to see if your setup allows "incoming connections" (which are different from the stats in the connections pane).

In your preferences, go to the Bug Reports and click the button for "Sample Bug Report"

Scroll through the display until you can find the line about "accept incoming this session=true [or false]"

If it says false, post back with your specs, especially how your machine is wired to the internet, and we can go from there.

If true, :) , post the name of one of your files and we can try to confirm that it can be found and downloaded.

Cheers

The computer is connected via a cable modem and the ISP is Optimum Online.
In the preferences, Upload speed is unlimited.
In the Firewall page of the System preferences, Gnutella/ Limewire Port 6346 as been checked.

stief September 29th, 2004 09:44 AM

Ah-there's the problem
Quote:

PORT=6348
and you have the OS X firewall set for 6346.

Either change the 6348 (which happens if another p2p gnutella client is opened at the same time) to 6346, or add 6348 to your OS X firewall.

btw--it's a good idea to allow partial filesharing: this really helps the network, and yours is turned off

Lastly, I'd suggest you edit your post and remove the bug report (no point advertising personal info).

Cheers
