ZenLess is flying high
Default Performance

I'm new to LW, just purchased LW 4.0.8 pro.

I got LW under the impression that it was fast or at least fater than Kazaa. So far iv'e been getting lower speeds than i did with kazaa. Im averaging 4KB/s which is poor.

Nowhere in my 'Options' do i see a slider bar nor any way to adjust Upload/Download speed. The only choice is the type of connection is under 'Options/speed' (eg: modem, Cable/DSl, t1, t3).

Me:
Windows 2000
DSL Connection at 10.0 Mbps with WinPoet.
McAfee Firewall (i'm forcing local IP within LW)

also I can set the maximum number of Downloads but there is no way to do the same for uploads.

what gives??

Go (1) Tools-Options (2) Click onto the Uploads arrow & select Basic (3) is where you'll find the slider for upld bandwidth.

Thanks, the adjustment for upload, was exactly where you said (in front of my face). But, there is no equivalent for download.

Well, tried all the suggestions in you link, nudged it every which way, and did not see any noticeable difference in performance. And I was only doing 2 or 3 files simultaneously, all 4 stars. It is even worse for people uploading, they flicker between 0 and 2KB/s.

Hmmm…

Should I have JRE also running in the background while LW is running??

Going to give it a try and will report back.

Did you read the sticky about optimizing LW's performance?
If you read it, then, as i say in the sticky, try one file and a real popular one, with hosts that have a good connection speed if possible (like T1, for example).
Your firewall might be the reason for your slow speeds....

A firewall blocks connections and don´t slow them down. Perhaps the provider is reducing the port speed.

Limewire will automatically start java, without java Limewire wouldn´t work.

Hmm, I think I read somewhere that a firewall-to-firewall connection will either connect and have turtle-speed or won't connect at all... Apparently, I'm wrong.

It don´t connect. I am not sure how Limewire handle it today but I believe two years ago you have to "push" the connetion, after this it was possible to connect, perhaps today this happens automatically. Perhaps one one the developers will post some details.
