![]() Just recently I've been getting this message when I try to play some video files: "Couldn't open the file ***** because a software component needed by the movie couldn't be found." When I use FileTyper or MacLink Plus to determine the format of the video, I find out it's a QuickTime file. Since I have the most recent version of QuickTime plus all the Indeo codecs, I have no idea what, if anything, I can do to play the movies. Am I really missing some software or are these videos corrupted in some way ? BTW-- I'm using OS 9.2.2 on a G4, if that's any help |

![]() Well... to be honest, Indeo is a somewhat old format (in fact I thought it had been discontinued - at least it's not available for OSX.) It doesn't incorporate the newer mpeg4 formats. And yes, mpeg 4 will show up as QT movies. So will avi. I'd suggest you search for DivX, & 3ivx , & XviD (click on links) & also http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=26816 might help. You WILL NEED these codecs so You might as well get them all. Good luck. Last edited by Lord of the Rings; October 16th, 2004 at 12:05 AM. |
