this is a new computer.i downloaded LM and been having it for about 3 weeks now. first week and a half i was gettin 5-6 kbps on any song i downloaded no matter how high or low the group count on the song(connect with modem and have aol).but its been a week now that i cant get over 2kbps lucky if i get 3.also when i start downloading the connection quality starts to go down.most of the time ends up on poor.also disconnects while im still online

Did you download xp service pack 2 (the security job) in this time, it seriously stifled my LW performance until I uninstalled it.

Look at the "problems downloading larger programmes" threads on this page. I had similar problems to yours and the tips helped me to configure Limewire in a way that drastically improved its performance.
