Default connecting...

My downloads won't connect. They all read connecting...
If I press force download, it then reads downloading from 3 host... 0kb
and it will stay that way -forever. My downloads will download for a little while and then stop. This happens with all of my downloads. I can click on a file that has four stars and a 20 after it and it will read connecting.... then it reads downloading from (any number of host) but it won't move. After awhile it will read waiting for source. Even if 10 or 20 people have the file.

can someone help??

Check here to see if you have the latest Java: www.java.com
Also, try deleting the preferences as indicated here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=22359

Yes, delete that (the folder). All settings will rervert to default and you're gonna have to do everything from the top. I suggest you uninstall LW and delete the prefs, then proceed to redownload the application and install it.

Default ???

I deleted the folder and then uninstalled LW. When I re-installed LW the files came back but it no longer says PRO. I am still having the same problems. My files won't load. They read
downloading from 3 hosts 0k/b and no time! My files just sit there. I keep my PC on -longer then I should hoping something will download.

Try deleting the file from the dwnld pane & re-select to dwnld from the search results. Do another search for sources & repeat process; deleting & reselecting multiple times b/w each search. Eventually it should kick in & dwnld.

I don't know which version of LW you have but by forcing resume for a large quantity of files, it can put great stress upon the connection quality. This is b/c each one queues & takes it in turn whilst they search for sources every few mins. Also attempting to dwnld too many at one time can have an affect upon dwnlding results.

Please do this TEST (click on link) See image below that article for closer understanding. Is your result 'True' or 'False'?

Optimise your LW settings: Link 1 (click me) and also Link 2 (click me also) and also Search & dwnld techniques (some hints)

I did what you asked and it is marked False. I have LW 4.0.8
I deleted and re-selected the file. It downloaded for awhile and then stopped -which is a good start because none of my files were moving. I'm happy to see them increase 1%.
Thanks again

There's something blocking LW's access. It doesn't sound like a total block though. Please supply the following info.: OS version, SP's, Java version, connection type, LW version, Router type, firewall types, anti-virus apps, where you're connecting from; home, work, school, etc. Any other relevant information that you think may help. Try to make your post descriptive, specific, and clear so members can quickly and efficiently help you.

Default Info

I’m going to try to answer your questions as best as I can. I don’t know much about my system.
OS version, I am using Windows XP Home edition.
SP's, Not sure what this means.
Java version,
connection type, Charter HighSpeed Internet
LW version, 4.0.8
Router type, D-Link DI 604 (Residential Gateway)
firewall types, I don’t know what a firewall is. I know after the new Windows Pack update I had to go to Control Panel to allow access, but other than that I have no clue.
anti-virus apps, I have McAfee Security Package that was pre-installed. It has a Virus Scan. No further info was given.

I am a student on a new Dell Laptop. I connect to the internet at home through Charter Communication Cable Company. My service is shared between (3) other computers in the house through a router. The above info is all I could find out about the router. After the new Pack update my system has changed. A forum member suggested that I go to Java.com to download the newest version, which I did. Not sure what version it is, I just know I now have a Java desktop icon. Sometimes when I turn my laptop on a window pops up and says that the connection to Gnutella has been blocked check port 6435. Before the update files would download with no problem, now they read “more sources” or “downloading from 3 hosts” but they don’t actually download.

It sounds like a router issue. You will need to do port forwarding for your router & LW to allow port 6346 access. To my knowledge, it can only be done for one comp on your network so the others (if they also use p2p) would need to port forward using a different port no. See this for a detailed explanation (I use D-Link 504G so I'd guess the process will be identical): http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=29463
