Default File name problems

I am downloading different files at the moment but they are all named identically. This means that I download 5 different files, but each time I get a new one, it overwrites the previous different file of the same name.

Is there a way to fix this problem, so that my files of the same name are not over-written by the new, different file of the same name?

Thanks for an answer!

If they are different then they shouldn't overwrite themselves. And if you've already completed dwnlding it, why re-dwnld it? Files can be grouped yet there's small variations in the name. I have witnessed a rare scenario similar to what you're refering to but I'd suggest you stay with just one if it is causing issues.

I don't know why the files of the same name are overwriting themselves despite being of different content.
I am not re-downloading the same file again, rather I am downloading different files, which happen to have the same title (6 different files called 04.mp3, 6 different files called 05.mp3 etc)

Any ideas?

Make sure you're using the latest version (4.0.8) or the latest beta (4.1.8). If you are, then LimeWire should be creating new temporary names for each one, and asking you if you'd like to overwrite the existing file as it saves. At some point in the future LimeWire will ask if you'd like to specify an alternate saved name, but for now downloading a file of the same name will ultimately erase the old one (although during the download it will have a different temporary name).

Hi...

this is really interesting! I've got exactly the same problem, although I'm using the newest version 4.8.1!
When I'm downloading two files, named the same (e.g. new_picture.jpg [size: 100kb] and new_picture.jpg [size: 167kb]), the file which finishs later overwrite the other one! It's unimportant which size they have...

But when I already have downloaded the file new_picture.jpg [size: 100kb] and start another file with the same name after I've finished the first download, LW asks me "Overwrite exisiting file (new_picture.jpg)?"

So I think it's definitly a bug, which have to be fixed
LimeWire is such a great Programm, and I don't want use anotherone
Thx for answer!

I've also noticed it! Identical scenario! I guess the only answer is to move the 1st out of the downld folder.

Not really the best solution ^^

Why doesn't LW just rename the file to new_picture(1).jpg? This would be a very easy solution I think

That would seem logical ... strange b/c the incomplete folder does this! I just double-checked. Same no., same name but (2) beside the name.
