Really slow up/download speeds on DSL

The best speed I have seen is 17 K. I usually connect at 5 to 10 K. I am at home on a dsl connection with no other apps running. I have noticed uploads disconnecting all the time, probably because of the slow speed?

What can I do about this? i read the FAQ's and all options are correct.

What is the normal speed on DSL?

There is no "normal" speed. It depends on what kind of connection speed you pay for. Read this for a little more info)

Your slow download speeds may be caused by the amount of uploads. How much bandwidth are you devoteing to uploads? And how many uploads do you usually have? In the options menu set your download slots to 0 (it's not very nice, so don't leave it like this) and see how fast you are able download. Good luck.
