Default Wireless Network

Hi,

I have a wireless network running through AOL Broadband. The connection was fine without the network. On my 2nd pc downloading seems to be very slow using Limewire. Any ideas?

What devices are you using? What brand name & model numbers? This could be the issue if they're NAT modems/routers. You may need to forward a port but we'll need those details 1st in order to help you.

Default wireless router

Hi,

Thanks for getting back so quick.

Basically for the router I have a Linksys Wireless G ADSL router model WA G54G and for the adapter I have a USB Linksys Wireless G Network Adapter. I have remote access as well if this helps.

I can find the port forward instructions for 54G (there's several variant models) but are you sure the initial model prefix is not WRV or WRT? Also do you have any more details about the Network Adapter. This might not be an issue anyway, but certainly Linksys generally use NAT technology which blocks ports.

In fact I just googled WA 54G & nothing came up. Which suggests you got the prefix wrong.

At the bottom of the following page you'll find Linksys modem/routers. Find your model & follow the instructions very carefully. You'll need to set up a static ip for your computer. Don't forget to save your settings & reboot your modem. Port Forwarding Linksys & use port 6346

After that, you will need to force ip within LW see here: LW Force IP instructions & sample

See how you go. Good luck.

Thanks
