EVERY download says "need more sources"!

AHHHHHH Why is it that every single file I try to download says "connecting" then immediately says "need more sources"? IT'S SO ANNOYING! Look, I've searched all over the place for "****" by ***** on her new album *****l (It's not for me, it's a Christmas present for my dad) and if I actually get lucky enough to find a file, it won't let me download it! WHHHHYYYYYY???!!!! *slams head on keyboard*

in tools>options>searches, check the box so lw only shows you 4-star results, it could be that youre seeing files on clients without upload slots for you. 4-stars have 4 stars cuz they do.
plus, try initiating the download right as the result comes in to you to minimize the chance of someone else snatching up what might be the source's last upload position.

need more sources

I made the change but still receive this message. I've been attempting to download *****. I encounter this message outright or after "waiting for sources". I've tried four or more files, most of which had the four stars.

Any suggestions? I'm runing limewire pro on windows xp.

Thanks...

Sometimes the simplest solutions work. try deleting your LW preferences (whilst LW is closed) called: .limewire & found here: C:/Documents And Settings/your_username/.limewire

Update your Jave: Java 1.4.2 (click on link)

I'm having a similar problem, but instead of all of them being "need more sources" they're mostly "queued", there's like 2 downloads "connecting", and the rest are "need more sources"... any help? I already have the latest java and I've got the free version of lw running windows xp pro at home.

also, should we delete the whole folder or just a single specific file? I found c:\...\.limewire but don't quite understand what to delete

You delete the entire folder called .limewire (after you re-open LW it will create a new preferences folder!)

It is normal for files to be queued after you open LW. You need to give LW time to settle down. How long this takes depends on how many incomplete & shared files you have. Files will try to connect one by one, but you need to give it time. Manual searching for sources helps to find new sources after LW has settled down. And don't use the Resume button on too many files otherwise your files will be queued for much, much longer periods.

Here's some hints: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities.
