![]() Attempts to playback large video files always results in an error that says...I do not have proper files or codecs. My default player is windows media. Can I change my player to quicktime or realplayer to solve the problem? With small videos like music videos there is'nt an issue. The same can be said about music downloads.no problems.Concerns arise with larger movies..Any suggestions? thanks |

![]() Hey Randogg, I was having the same problem for a day or so until I found this quote by "Lord of the Rings": Many users have several players as a back up. they may also set some of these as defalt to play particular video formats such as mpeg or avi-divx, etc. Here's a player that has in-built codecs & plays almost everything except the odd wmv file: VLC (a free player) & choose the nearest mirror site to there you live. It's not the prettiest player & its controls are rather basic but it's an all in one player that reliably plays most things including dvd's & vcd's. Happy watching! Try this link found in the forum response path of: Gnutella Forums > Current Gnutella Client Forums > LimeWire (Cross-platform) > Open Discussion > windows media player I do believe it is about the 3rd or 4th response down the list. There is a link for the 'VLC (a free player)'. Try downloading this and installing it; I found that it solved most of my problems. I also did a search for a "DivX" program and this cleared up some of the poor quality movies that I was downloading. If you can't find this program and need a link let me know. I hope this is helpful to you. BTW - If you happen to know of some great places to download good quality movies without getting dumped when at 69% - 88% download (= about 6 hours of download wasted) I would be eternally greatful for the lead. Thanks. WR |

![]() Hey Randogg, Please disregard the last response, I just found that there were responses to your querry. My Internet connection just took longer than it should have to download the whole page. Sorry about redundant comments. WR |

![]() White Raven ...thanks for your helpful information. The VLC player has made a difference and basically taken care of any issues that I had.Regarding your concern about being dumped after 75% of your download.I have been using Lime Wire Pro and have received complete downloads some in quick fashion. The only concern that I have experienced has been downloading fake films. It is annoying that you spend a period of time downloading video and when completed you find out that you have the wrong film. Reply if I can help in any way........ |

![]() Randogg, What OS are you running? Processor speed? RAM? etc. or do you think it would make a difference between a P3 550Mhz and a 700 Mhz? I'm running Windows 98SE with 256 megs of RAM on a P3 550. Do you think Pro would make a difference? WR |

![]() White Raven....I am running a P4 Dell XPS.OS is XP,processor, 3.0 1535 mb of ram and a Radeon 9800 pro video card. I ran with Limewire basic for a short while.I upgraded to LimeWire Pro and noticed a difference right away(turbo downloading its called). Choosing the right time of the day and stay away from peak periods. When you get a good connection I have downloaded film video in 30 to 40 minutes.Other times I get a dog connection and it takes abit longer.Despite the connection issue I always receive a complete download... |

![]() Thanks for the tips. I might give it a try. By the way, would you happen to know of some key places to download movies or do you just search until you find one that works? WR |

![]() Hey Randogg, I have downloaded Pro, seems to be working fine on my computer but I'm having problems with uploads (i.e. noone is uploading). could it be that I just don't have files that anyone wants or could it be a problem with my settings do you think? In the bottom left of the screen it tells me that I am sharing 0 files. This is not because I don't want to, I'm just not sure what it means. Even when I wasn't uploading files before I was still sharing files. Now it doesn't show either. If you have suggestions let me know. WR |
