Default Incomplete Folder

If I understand correctly, the Incomplete folder is where downloads that are not finished are stored, thereby the name Incomplete.

My problem is the Incomplete folder keeps getting put on my C drive under c:\program files\LimeWire\LimeWire 4.2.6 Pro\Incomplete. This is not where I want it. My C drive is a very small 6 gig drive and gets filled up quickly.

I want the incomplete folder on my 40 gig D drive.

Everything I have tried keeps putting the Incomplete folder on the C drive.

I have the download directory set to the D:\ for the D drive. I've tried uninstalling the software and re-installing it to the D drive under D:\LimeWire 4.2.6 Pro. Even when I do this there is a folder created on c:\program files\LimeWire\LimeWire 4.2.6 Pro\Incomplete.

Please help.

Did you try deleting the incomplete folder on the C Drive before you re-installed? All you should need to do is change the Dwnld location in the LW Tools>Options>Saving. But in XP I'm not not sure.

Yes I did delete the incomplete folder on the C drive. In actuallity I uninstalled the program form add/remove programs then went to the C drive and deleted the entire C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire 4.2.6 Pro folder and everything under it. When I re-installed the program I made the download directory D:\ and installed the program to D:\LimeWire 4.2.6 Pro. But it stille keeps creating the C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire 4.2.6 with the incomplete folder with in it.

If I delete it then it just comes back.

By the way this is WIN 2000 not XP.

It works just fine on my WIN XP system.

No I have 3 PC's in the house 2 have Win 2000 and the third is WIN XP.

I only have it installed on the WIN XP and only 1 of the WIN 2000 machines.

It works fine on the WIN XP but I'm having the problem with the Incomplete folder being in the wrong place on the WIN 200 system.

Thanks for the happy and by the way Merry Christmas.

Thanks & Merry Xmas to U2! And festivities & new year. I'm actually a day ahead lol

I must confess I'm more of a mac person & although I run win 2k on a virtual pc, I only have one main drive so I can't try it out. Hopefully one of the experienced windows users might be able to solve this one.

I set up 2 drives called F & G on Win 2k using Virtual PC. I installed LW on drive F & set up my dwnld folder for G. My incomplete folder also ended up in G. So I'm guessing you may have more than one occurence of LW. There might be a copy you still have on C. Regardless, you must have an incomplete folder in the same folder as your Dwnld folder wherever it is. You may have gotten your folder name mixed up for your dwnld folder. Just a guess. Do a search for incomplete using your OS search engine after next time you set up your dwnld folder on drive D. Don't forget to press the APPLY button after any change like this!

I forgot to mention, there is no incomplete folder on C drive on my comp. Even after closing & re-opening LW. Everything is as it should be. So when you change your LW Dwnld Folder location: Tools>Options>Saving (make a note of the folder's name or even give it a unique name) & Press the Apply button. Make 'sure' you selected D drive. Double-check after you go out of options. Then go back into Tools...Saving to make sure the changes were recorded.

Thanks LOR, but I've already done everything that you suggested. I even went into the Registry after removing the program and remove ever refferene to LW from there. I searched both the C & D drives for LW and removed everything that the uninstall left and still had the same problem. I will try it again later tonight.

I finally got it working. Apparently LW does not like the root drive to be the shared folder. It will download to the root directory and share it for others to upload, but it will not put the incomplete folder there. I had to make a dummy folder on the D drive and tell LW to use that as the shared folder. At that point it would recognize the Incomplete folder on the D drive as where my old downloads were stored and then I could go into options and change the shared directory to just D: and it will keep D:\Incomplete as the temporary directory.

I hope this will help anyone else that may run into the same situation.
