Help with download I have a p3 computer with cable hook up. Question is when I am downloading many downloads I have my current setting at 20 download with I think is the default setting I just recently moved my upload setting to very low. I kick myself off..... I unplug my cable mot. and router. Plug it back in wait for the light to do what they are too then plug the router in...My connection is back andfine for a while then after a while it will kick me back off again and I have to repeat the same steps. Any advise on what I can do to better this situation? Many thanks in advance. |

Is it a USB modem? If it is a combined usb/ethernet modem then I'd suggest you go the ethernet. If you don't have a ethernet card they're not very expensive nowadays. Many USB modems draw their power from the computer & also utilise your computer's processor. Thus, any major utilisations of your processor can mean inconsistent results from your modem. See: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum...cfm?t=86201#r5 & look for section called 3.4 USB-based modems/routers |

Going to go look and read right now, I have the older style I think. I have the modem, one plug is power then I have the coax cable in. The I have what I think is a cat 5 cable going out to the router with then 3 or 4 cat 5 cables to the backs of the wifes and kids computers. No usb anywhere so maybe that might be time to upgrade then. |
