Unhappy Can't upload to other users

This is probably the millionth time someone has answered this question in this forum....but, hey, give me a break, I'm a newbie to Limewire.

I can download just fine, but users who try to upload to me usually time out or get disconnected. Appx. one out of ten uploads are successful.
I have a static IP DSL setup w/ a cheapo Linksys router.

Please help, I don't want to be a freeloader.

Do you know if you are behind a firewall?

I am using a router, connected to DSL, by virtue of having a router I would say that yes, I am behind somewhat of a firewall. It would seem to me, correct me if I am wrong, that nobody would be able to upload from me if the firewall were preventing it. This is not the case, some uploads are successful.

Thanks for your ideas

Firewalls can be tricky to get around, but you do not have a real one set up. As long as some of your uploads are successful, I wouldn't worry too much. If you've got your freeloading features turned on, then many uploads may appear as "File Not Found" in the uploads section. This is because LimeWire has blocked those users who are taking away from the community without giving anything back.

Question Uploads unsuccessful

OK...but I NEVER have a good upload. I am running Zone Alarm but even when I shut it down I can't upload. Any suggestions? I am running Windows 2000 with a cable modem.

Shutting down zone alarm probably won't help. Have you tried forcing your IP address in the LimeWire options?

To increase the number of simultaneous uploads possible, go to TOOLS > OPTIONS > UPLOADS > SLOTS and increase the 'Start Upload Slots' and 'Max Upload Slots' to about 5. Of course, if you are using something faster than 56k dialup, make the numbers larger - M U C H larger.
:-)
If your downloads are failing even if you don't have a firewall or anti-freeloading features turned enabled, then I cannot help you any further. Sorry.
