Default "Need More Sources"

Okay, I have had a problem with most P2P programs for some time now. At first Limewire worked like a charm, I loved it to death, but all of a sudden one day it wouldn't connect. It kept saying *Connecting* but alas, nothing. To say the least I was heartbroken and for many a weeks I didn't want to try any other programs. I finally got up the courage to try another program, and I went through a lot of shitty programs before I found Ares Galaxy. Man oh man, it wasn't another Limewire, but it worked. A few weeks later.... *Connecting*

Son of a bitch, now Ares didn't work either. Once again, I was heartbroken. Neither Limewire nor Ares worked. I talked to some people and they told me that Limewire Pro might work, so I bought it, and now I can connect (after about 30 minutes) but the searches are limited. I am finding about 75% less songs than I use to and even if I download the one with the most number of sources it gives me the error "Need More Sources"

Now I know that if you try to download a song with 1-5 sources you probably won't get through, but a song that had at least 12 sources would be downloaded in about 2 minutes, and ones with 35 sources with done within 55 seconds. Now, with the limited number of downloads and low sources, I can't complete any downloads, much less start any.

Summary: finally got Limewire to connect, now EVERYTHING asks for more sources, despite having 30+ sources

1st suggestion is not to use the Resume or Find Sources button on many files (if any.)

The best way to continue dwnlds is to manually search for the sources. If you're searching for music, don't just rely upon audio searches. Also try a General search type. Many people don't label their files very well so a general search can often find these other files.

Some hints: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities.

Depending upon how many incomplete files & shared files you have, the settling down period of LW might take between 10 mins to an hour!!! So keep that in mind. Don't use all of LW's resources until it has loaded every thing at least.

I don't

I usually always do. I did a search for Hallelujah, found the same one I downloaded months ago before the 2 reformats I did to my hard drive. It had 35 sources, and still it said Need More Sources

thats not gonna help any

One hour you say? That's pretty much how long it took before it finally freaking connected
I dont have any incomplete files or any shared files because I just got done with another reformat and no freaking P2P programs work

Well that's too bad ain't it!

If you want some help read some suggestions thoughout the forum. Many of them have been repeated time after time but some people still refuse to look at the rules & arrogantly just post their frustrations despite the rules being posted at the top of every section. I had some more suggestions but hey... read this: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/announ...?s=&forumid=29
Just as well I'm not being paid for this. lol Get another attitude or just good luck! Farewell!

You hadn't told me anything about your system ... or connection ... but oh well. lol

See this: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...&highlight=Cox & its link. It 'may' be your isp that's the issue.

I was going to call today but they are closed on the weekends. Is there any way to check to be sure that it is Cox blocking my P2P programs?

Other than calling them up & saying you are aware that they are filtering or blocking your p2p use, I'm not sure. I am aware or heard from one other member that Cox don't apply it to commercial packages or at least theirs (probably just home users.) p2p can steal a lot of bandwidth from an isp & if their systems are busy/overloaded then if they recognise p2p users out there, they'll probably apply it. Don't sound like a trusty lot to me. I'm on good communication level with my isp & they have so far been bery honest with me. The moment I sense they're starting to be dishonest with me ... well ... I'd start searching around I'd suspect.
